QOTD

I've been doing an extreme amount of laundry this week and realized one of my huge annoyances is when H leaves his dirty socks in a ball.  I've taken to putting them directly into the wash as-is.  They are now dingy and nasty and frankly, I don't care.

This leads me to the QOTD:  What habits does YH have that drive you crazy?  And... what habit do you have that makes YH crazy?

Re: QOTD

  • I always tell DH I can tell where he's been in the apartment because he leaves a trail of lights on everywhere he goes. I can't understand how you can walk into a room, turn on the light and then walk right out and not turn it off. Then he wonders why our light bills are so high and we only have a 2BR apartment! UUUGGHHH!!!

However, I tend to leave a trail of hair everywhere I go and he hates it when I have to comb my hair in his bathroom (like if we have company staying over) because it means hair on his floor.

I should make a deal that every time he turns a light off, I'll sweep the floors :)

  • DH has a habit of leaving lights on as well, so I usually am behind him shutting all of them off.

I am horrible about picking things up.  Whenever I come home, I throw the mail on the back of the couch, and it sits there.  By the end of the week when DH comes home, there is generally a pretty sizeable pile there.

  • After DH shaves, he doesn't clean the sink completely. There is still specks of his hair around the knobs on the faucet, it drives me nuts! I don't understand why he can't take 2 seconds to wipe off the knobs around the faucet and make sure they're clean!

Also, I don't let him wash or iron clothes anymore. When we first moved in together almost 2 years ago, I had him wash some laundry for me while I was away. I came back and had found out that all of my dress clothes had been washed with jeans and towels. I was so mad!

My habit that drives DH crazy is that I leave things dragging around. Sometimes I leave the kids pajamas on the floor in the morning, after I change them. I'm not a clean freak, so it doesn't bother me like it bothers him. Trust me that I do not leave dirty clothes or food around my house, but I also don't need to have it spotless every second of every day. I don't have the time of the energy to keep up with it, especially with two children.

  • My H does the lights thing too!  Our electric bill for our 1br is as high as my dad's for his 5 br house.  Granted, we do have a 150 gallon saltwater tank that is an energy hog....

I hang-dry almost all of my clothing and tend to leave the "tree" out longer than necessary.  Makes him embarrassed to have people over. I understand and don't want people to view my undies, but I can't dry anything in the dryer that has elastic or is in a load with elastic.  Sometimes I don't have much of an option.

  • It must be a guy thing with the lights!  I come home every day and every single like downstairs is on.  I feel like I spend more time I walking around turning off the lights after him.  His other things are taking off his socks downstairs and our dog- who loves to play with them- running all around the house and leaving them everywhere!  We seriously have a trail of socks all over our downstairs.  The last is leaving the kitchen cabinets wide open.  He's gotten better closing them in the house but he used to leave them wide open when we lived in our apartment for some reason.

For him, it drives him crazy that I don't put my clothes away that dry on our drying rack.  I usually just wear them as I go verses putting him away and it makes him nuts that I never put them away.  Also, I hate making lunches.  I'm fine once I'm making it but getting to that point is torture to me.  So I'll buy lunch (not money smart) verses using all the lunch supplies we have in the fridge, that end up going bad.

  • DH takes lunch to work in my tupperware, and he always forgets to bring them home!  I go to his work most weekends, so I have to collect a week's worth of storage containers.  It is annoying because we only have so many containers and sometimes he has them ALL at his shop.

I think DH gets annoyed when I snack in bed.  Some days, I bring the laptop to bed and work cozy under the covers, and I often snack while I work.  I try to not eat anything crumb-y, but he says he can always tell when I've been eating in bed.
