canned pumpkin

Has anyone seen canned pumpkin at their grocery lately?  I know it's out of season, but I'm seriously craving some pumpkin protein shakes!

Re: canned pumpkin

  • the growers had a bad season last year, so the canned market got hit, so they may not come back full tilt until the holidays when the demand goes back up.

  • Try asking at the service desk.  Sometimes the stores put products in the least logical spot!

  • Hm sorry but I had enough issues trying to find canned pumpkin this past year when it was IN season.  Sometimes it was stocked and sometimes it wasn't.  Usually it's in the baked goods section of our Kroger.  Some of the Nesties were nice enough to offer me some from their stash but I was able to find some eventually :)
  • I know you're buying this for human consumption, but we give canned pumpkin to our dogs, and find it all the time at Complete Petmart. It's organic, and we put it in muffins, whatever and eat it all the time. HTH!
  • Excellent, thank you ladies.  I knew it was hard to come by as of lately, so I majorly stocked up in the Fall (for some reason our store that typically carries nothing was chock full).  However, I had to give the stash to our dogs because they got into rat poison.  Thankfully they're ok, but now we are out and MAN!! does that not settle well with them.  Everytime I've given them some they have really loose stools for at least a week. Have you had the same problem with your dogs- BrodiesMom?

  • Yes - this may be TMI, but our Boxer has problems expressing his anal glands, and pumpkin always does the trick! Ew, but true.
  • I think it's usually in the baking aisle where there are pie fillings.  At least that's where I see it at Kroger.
