Petsmart Pet Hotel

Have any of you used this?  I'm wondering about the cost...

Re: Petsmart Pet Hotel

  • I've used the one in Raleigh on Capital several times. No complaints. Everyone has always been really nice a its always clean. Plus my dog never seems stressed when I pick him up so I'm pretty sure he is well taken care of. :) I can't remember what exactly I paid per night (I usually add an extra play time to it if he's boarded more than a day or two) but I do know that is it significantly less expensive than having to board him at the vet. I want to say its like $23/night, maybe a little more but not much.
  • I'm almost positive my friend used this and was annoyed to find out after he picked up his dog that they didn't bring the dog outside to do his business.  Therefore, the dog refused to go for the 4 whole days he was there.  So I'd just ask if they are brought outside to do their thing.
  • No they don't take the dogs outside to the bathroom.

They have a room that is scented like the outside or something like that that is used, its got some sort of drainage/cleaning system in it. Sounds gross and strange, but I've never had an issue with my dog smelling bad or being dirty or anything when I've picked him up.

For what its worth, this info is in their pamphlet.

  • We took our dog there for daycamp when we lived in OH. It was comparable to all of the other places we've taken him, around $20/day.

  • Check with Camp Bow Wow of Durham/RTP on Page Road... our dog loves it there, and I have found their level of care is much higher than at PetsMart.

Bonus, they have a webcam so you can see your doggy.

They also have a location in Cary too.

If you are interested in this, I would look into their 10 or 15 day boarding packages. By buying in bulk, it lowers the price from $40/night to $36 or $34/night. I found that many boarding places charge by the day, so even though the nightly rate for Camp Bow Wow may be more expensive, it's usually about the same for a weekend away because it's one fewer night than days.

  • We used to take our dog to the one on Capital as well. I want to say the cost varies by breed/size, but we paid about $25 a day, with one extra walk, and an extra play time. Our dog was a 75 lb English Bulldog. This was a few years ago, as he passed away in Jan '08. Sad

He could be a pretty neurotic dog, but was always very happy and relaxed there. He got to know the people who worked there, and loved them. He never seemed to mind/notice that he wasn't taken outside. We had a great experience there.
