we have a program where we can foster pets for people short-term if they're going through a weird life thing and need some help. mostly we do it for domestic violence situations, just so they can get out and not worry about their pet being safe. we did this for a lady and her chihuahua/dachshund mix. she got help, secured a place to live, wanted the dog back. we approved it as a good situation, gave her the dog back.
she called yesterday to say a homeless guy stole the dog from her and she didn't know what to do. we asked if we could come over with the police and file a report, and she said oh the dog and i have been sleeping under the pine trees for a few weeks. she's been homeless for a while again, and living downtown near the bridge.
so our director went downtown himself today to look for the dog (he was her foster while we had her), and ended up at the dog warden to see if they'd heard anything. the guy that stole the dog SOLD it to a woman downtown for TWO DOLLARS. this lady said she felt the need to just get the dog away from the guy and she took it to the dog warden to make sure it wasn't owned and stolen. and then our director showed up.
so this new lady is going to apply to adopt the dog, and hopefully that will work out and she'll have a happy life and we won't have to worry about her anymore!
Re: crazy dog story
Crazy indeed!!! Thank goodness for that lady - I hope that's this pup's new (and forever!) home!!
People like the new lady give me hope for our society. I hope it has a happy ending.
Unrelated, but your sig pic is too freaking cute! I can't believe how big they are!
