How was your 6 week appointment yesterday?
Ayden gets fussy at night too and I still don't know why and wonder if I ever will too. Cooing and babbling and smiling definitely make the bad times worth it. I think he was fooling me with the one 6 and one 7 hour nights he had last week...3 hours on the dot for the past 2 nights...oh well, it comes with the territory.

Re: **vhcoleman**
Hey there! It's my first chance to get on TN in a while and still doing the 1ht thing. Thanks for asking about the appt yesterday. It went well and I got the all-clear for sexy time and exercise. I actually didn't mind the internal too much, but the speculum for the pap was a bit painful.
I spoke to the nurse there about my uncertainty with the GERD diagnosis, and she said it sounded to her more like Alex just has inexpicable fussy time in the evenings. He sleeps so well at night on his back and never had issues with that, which was why I questioned GERD. I need to talk to my pedi about it at the 2-month appt, since it was another doc that made the diagnosis. Fingers crossed that our little ones sttn tonight!
Great news about the appointment. It is nice to get the all clear, although I can't say that I've started exercising yet.
I hope it isn't GERD and it sounds like he is just fussy like Ayden gets in the evening. Hoping for the best. Are you still bf? How is that going for you? We're still bf here and just recently introduced a bottle so DH can help with the feeding too. How did Alex sleep last night? I got 4 hours. The dental assistant at my appointment yesterday said her kids didn't sttn until 4 months. Let's hope our little ones get there before that. Have a good day!
Looks like the A-team (aka Ayden & Alex) slept okay! Last night Alex did another 4.5 hr stretch. I paid for it last night and this morning though. He was fussy 6-9 last night and 9-10 this morning. Have you ever tried white noise? It worked for a good 15 minutes for Alex last night. Any suggestions on what works to calm Ayden? I am still bf...it's gotten a lot easier for me. How's it been for you?
How are things going with your FIL?
I like the A-team! I have tried white noise, sometimes it works, other times it makes him more upset. Other tricks I've tried are walking him around, singing to him, puting him in his bouncer. We need to get a swing too, we swing him in his carrier when he fusses in it and he loves it. I'm sure these are things you do as well. Bf is easier the longer we do it and I am getting more comfortable doing it in public so we can go out for longer periods. By public, I mean I've learned where the nice comfy restrooms with couches are. Haven't done it in full on public, I'm not that comfortable. We're moving Ayden to his crib tonight and I'm a little worried about how that will go.
FIL is hanging on. We think he'll be gone within the month but we have also thought that before and he's still here. It is just hard to see him suffering and not have a great quality of life. Thanks for asking.
Have a great weekend and here's to 5 hours of sleep!
It sounds like we're trying similar things. Alex is napping in his swing right now, but sometimes he likes it and sometimes he doesn't.
How was your 4th? Ours was pretty good. DH set up an inflatable pool in the backyard, we grilled, and watched the fireworks at the local country club from our backyard. Alex slept most of the day. On the 3rd we went out to a friend's dad's house on a huge lake, and were there for 5 hours. Alex slept most of the time, but was awake for a good hour and did really well. I fed him twice and he was just the most calm I've ever seen him. I think he likes the great outdoors. That night he slept a 6.5 hour stretch! Of course that didn't happen last night...it was back to 4 hours.
Praying that your FIL and your family are able to find some comfort during this difficult time.
Our 4th was good. We went to the IL's and spent time with them and DH's 2 brothers. Then we headed home. Missed fireworks this year, figured Ayden was too young to take to them. That's great you can see them from your backyard. How wonderful was it to get so much sleep out of Alex? I guess you'll have to take him outdoors all the time now. Ayden slept 4 hour stretches all weekend and then last night went back to 3 hours..ugh! We're also trying a bedtime "schedule" where he'll go down for the night after his 7:30/8pm feeding and then I get up when he is hungry, not 3 hours later. He's been asleep by 9:30 most nights but gets up at 1:30. I don't know if that's good or not, I feel more tired than keeping him up for a 10:30/11pm feeding and then putting him down. I figure we should try it though to see if he'll sleep longer.
Thanks for the prayers, we got the call shortly before 5am today that his dad did pass away. So this week we'll have a funeral and Ayden's baptism. Interesting how life works sometimes.
