We actually went to the grocery store last night and I am trying to think of something good to fix? Any ideas? What is everyone else fixing tonight for their husbands?

  • No clue.  I HAVE to go to the grocery store today but I have no idea what I'm going to get.  Maybe I'll buy a couple steaks to surprise H?  He was begging for one last night.
  • our standard Friday night summer dinner: big salads. crisp veggies, some tuna, maybe some hard boiled eggs (if we have any left!) and cheese...mmmmm. Yummy!! :)
  • Well, after DH quit his job I told him I expect dinner on the table at 5:30pm until he finds a new job, LOL.  Kidding, we'll probably get some take out until we can get to the grocery store this weekend.  We have $100 gift card to spend at Whole Foods!

That sounds really good. I may just have to take some tilapia out of the freezer and whip up something else to go with it.

  • We're doing pizza I think. I didnt want to brave the grocery store because its super packed for the Nateva (Hippieish) Music Festival going on this weekend. It all looked pretty cool when we drove by though, too bad its so expensive.

  • No clue what we're doing.  We're trying to coordinate plans with my brother & his gf.  So my guess is that we're going out for dinner & drinks :)  If I was cooking, it'd be some kind of chicken & veggies.

  • I have some round pork steaks in the fridge so I will probably do something with those but DH was talking about wanting a pizza hut pizza with popeyes chicken on top and then a dairy queen blizzard on top of that folded into a calzone then deep fried and smothered in cheese and gravy so we may be eating out.
  • I have cooked just about every night since we got home from the HM.  So maybe we can order out.  It's Friday and I don't feel like cooking.

Neither of us really cook, (though I'd like both of us to learn... well, okay, mostly I'd like him to learn) so take out it is!  For him, Charlie's Steakery, for me, Famous Wok.  Delicious.

Ditto.  I am thinking we might be grilling and drinking a few cold ones tonight.  I had a run in with my psycho *** of a boss today and I could use a drink!

  • We're BBQ'ing burgers tonight with Italian pasta salad. But last night we made one of my favorites:

Healthified Thai Shrimp and Quinoa Curry

1pound fresh or frozen large shrimp
1cup dry quinoa or whole wheat couscous*
    1teaspoon olive oil
    1cup chopped onion
    1tablespoon grated fresh ginger
    1/2teaspoon curry powder
    1/2teaspoon ground cumin
    1/4teaspoon cayenne pepper
6ounces frozen snap peas, thawed, trimmed, and halved lengthwise (2 cups)
    1/4cup orange juice
    3tablespoons unsweetened light coconut milk
    1/4teaspoon salt
    1/2cup snipped fresh cilantro
1.Thaw shrimp, if frozen. Peel and devein shrimp; rinse and pat dry. Set aside. To prepare quinoa, rinse in cold water and drain in a fine-mesh strainer. In a medium saucepan, bring 1 1/2 cups water to boiling; add quinoa. Return to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and cook for 15 minutes. When all of the water is absorbed, remove quinoa from heat and let stand for 5 minutes.
2.In a large nonstick skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion; cook and stir about 5 minutes or until tender. Add ginger, curry powder, cumin, and cayenne pepper; cook and stir for 1 minute. Add shrimp and peas, stirring to coat with the spices. Cook and stir about 3 minutes or until shrimp are opaque. Stir in orange juice, coconut milk, and salt; heat through.
3.Serve shrimp mixture with quinoa or couscous. Top each serving with cilantro.

  • msmoore80: that sounds so yummy. I am going to keep that recipe for another night. Thanks!

  • It's Friday.  I don't cook on Friday.  I rarely cook on Saturday.  So whenever H gets done playing with his new HD satellite service (that took 4 hours for the guy to install this morning), he can take care of supper for me.  ;)

  • firstly, I do not fix anything FOR my husband. I fix for ME, and he either eats it or he doesn't.

secondly, if there is any fixing to be done it's a joint effort.

thirdistically, tonight it's dairy queen- executive decision made by yours truly.

  • Domino's Pizza

Since they changed their pizza, I am loving them more and more.  And DH orders my little pizza special....pepperoni lovers.  Srsly.  So much pepperoni most people would choke.  But it's still not enough for me.

That new Domino's crust is actually really good! Maybe the first time I've heard of a reformulation actually succeeding! (Not unlike our 80s faves: New Coke and Clear Pepsi...)

I was surprised! Usually change in food isn't good.... but you're right.  That new crust is NOM.
