It was suggested that I post this here as well since many of the Nesties don't go to the DW Board often.  :)

We've been looking into a Cruise GTG for November of 2011. I've been working with Carnival on a Group Booking and got some great rates and amenities.

Here's the specifics that was in the Email that I mailed to all who were interested in going:

Hi all!!!  I'm so excited about this Group GTG it's pathetic!  I know there are a few of you who are just as excited as I am too!!  Woot woot!

I am definitely going to book the Group Booking by the end of this month.  Right now, on Carnival's website, they have an "Early Saver" rate that is $419 per person plus fees and governmental taxes, but that rate is Non-Refundable, (meaning if for some reason you can't make it, you lose out on your deposit.. ALL OF IT) and the Early Saver rate doesn't have any of the amenities that we will get as a Group.

The Group Rate we will get (crossing my fingers it doesn't change between now and when I actually book it, but the lady said it most likely won't) will be $459 per person plus taxes and governmental fees of $52.55 for a total of $521.55.  There definitely are some advantages to booking into the Group!!

Those who are going to join us on the cruise will have to reserve their cabin and pay the $250 deposit within 30 to 60 days from the date that I lock into the Group Rate.  (So in this case, if I book it on August 1st, you'll have until  September 1st to pay the deposit)  Sometimes they extend it an extra 30 days so it will take it out to October 1st.

The beauty of locking into this Group Rate guarantees our deposit back should something come up and we have to back out.  I'm not 100% sure of the exact dates just yet, (it depends on the exact date that I lock into the Group) but the Carnival Representative gave me these approximate dates for cancellations:

Should you have to cancel for any reason, up until the Final Payment date of September 13th, you would get 100% of any monies paid on your reservation;  if you cancel after the 13th of September but before October 17th, you'd get 50% of all monies paid; and if  you cancel between the 17th of October up til November 20th, you will not get any money back.

Another plus with this Group Rate is if for any reason the rates go down, they will adjust everyone's account to reflect the savings.  So if you happened to pay your entire balance off, and the rate went down, you'd get a credit to your account.  :)   But if the rates were to go up, we're locked into our rates and it wouldn't affect us at all.

So.... once you book your cabin and pay the deposit of $250, your balance will be $271.55 and you'll have until September 13, 2011 to pay that off.  So, to put this in prespective, if you start making monthly payments in September of this year, you would only have to pay $22.63 a month (per person) to Carnival.  Of course, you can pay as much, or as little as you want, whenever you want.  You can choose to wait until the very last day to pay it off if you so choose to.  (Breaking it up monthly for me was an easy way to budget.  He he he.)

Also, each person will get a $50 on board ship credit ($100 per cabin); and we'll have a 1 hour free cocktail party!!  Score!  Let me tell you, at first, on our cruise, I was thinking.. "oh sure... how much can you really drink in an hour"... but believe me when I say.. when the alcohol is free, you'd be amazed at how many drinks some people can put down in an hour!  :)
