Re: photographer update

  • That sucks.  As a photographer she really should have attempted to take some pictures with smiles.  I was really upset with our wedding photographer/my step sister because in almost every picture she isn't smiling.  Our big wedding photo in the hall has our SIL licking her lips (it's only noticable if you look really close) because it's the only group shot that my step sister was actually smiling in.

Do you think she would send you the rest of the pictures anyways so you can make a decision yourself?  Too bad you couldn't get some half decent pics.  Maybe try again with a different photographer and let them know right away you want to try and get smiling shots.  Then the photographer knows there is an expectations for smiling faces (although really, what photographer doesn't know there is that expectations.)

  • Does she not have a digital camera so she could have seen that he was frowning so much? That totally sucks!
  • she does have a digital. I guess she just sucks. At first I didn't think this was her fault at all but now I do.

  • I completely understand where your coming from when it comes to haveing expectation at a photo shoot.

    I myself am a photographer.

Unfortunately, a lot of photographers these days aren't schooled in the client services side of the industry. There is a HUGE influx of stay at home mums picking up a camera and deciding that it would be a great way to make some extra cash.

When I first started (18 years go!) I used to put a time line on photo shoots.

Now it is pretty much unlimited time......we have a brest feeding area and really let the baby decide what is good for them....in my opinion it is the only way to get the picture you and the client want.

Also at the end of the session we go through the shots and make sure that we got the shots that were wanted.

Now, not everyone works this way.

But if you decide to have a re-shoot ask the photographer what the game plan is. And let them know that your first experience wasn't exactly what you were looking for.

I'm so sorry to hear your experience wasn't a good one.....but I promise not all photographers are like that. PM me if you decide to do another shoot and I can recommend a fantastic photographer in your area!
