Did she DD or was it removed? You can post your personal opinions & beliefs on a public message board all you want but you should be prepared for people to post their feelings in response. Don't post if you can't deal with opposing viewpoints!

Not that I could tell, but I really liked your response!
Me too!
I assumed it was MUD, but apparently not. Trolls rarely delete their own threads. Anyway, like a pp said, I just ignored it. No biggie.
ETA: For those who missed it, the OP who deleted her thread thinks the "End of Days" is eminent and Jesus is ready to return due to some recent disasters. It would be an overstatement to say she was flamed; I'd say she got a warm breeze warning her not to assume everyone is a Christian.
She was the newbie who asked if we ever had GTGs with our husbands at our houses. My response is a big fat NO to that!
Sort of on topic-I don't think anyone should ever be afraid of legit, serious posts about religion. We've had a few from people trying to find a church and I myself have asked for advice about religious conflicts in my family. Heck, I'm even up for a respectful discussion of why we believe what we believe/don't believe.
I agree with all of the above provided that people realize that it could rock the harmonious nestie boat a little bit. Religion is, afterall, one of the rocky topics of conversation. I for one am always all about healthy debate as long as like you said, it's in a respectful manner and people realize that there are opinions that may differ from your own (and that's okay!).

Same here. I've met a lot of the ladies on this board - and so I think a respectful discussion on just about ANY topic is possible on this board. I like you all, I have no interest in ticking anyone off.
At least, not yet.
And I dislike the idea of putting off a newbie that might not understand our board dynamics yet.
But that being said - there was something about that post which rubbed me the wrong way - and I think it was the fact that it was so singularly based on Christian premise. It could have been asked 'do you think the end is near?' without ever bringing religion into it. Or a disclaimer could have been added, saying 'I'm Christian and this would mean an armaggedon scenario to me, but I'm interested in other beliefs too.'
I know I can be a bit harsh sometimes, so I deliberately waited a day or two to respond to see if the thread would go a different place than I would take it. It didn't. Now the DD has me irritated.
Totally agree! I believe all topics are acceptable and as I said before, I simply skip any threads that don't interest me. To be religious is as legitimate as not being religious so I think there ought to be room for both secular and spiritual discussions. As Daves pointed out people have sought help finding a church, dealing with interfaith issues with family, etc all without being flamed. Just because we don't all share the same faith doesn't mean we should not post faith-related inquiries.
Anota (still don't like the new name :P) What bothered me about the OP was the run-on sentence! LOL
