Re: the fireworks
Married May 1st, 2010
My grandparent's dogs and my in-laws dog all get "doggie downers". They are prescribed by the vet and it's basically a type of xanax/sedative.
It sucks to watch them be so sedated, but it's definitely better than the alternative.
Poor doggies =(
The Benhams: Married May 1st, 2010!
Awww! Poor doggies. My cat is only marginally concerned about thunder and fireworks, but the dog we had when I was growing up was TERRIFIED of them.
My family all hunts (I only went for two years, until my brother got old enough; then I handed the gun over to him). When we first got the dog, she would trot back to the target range with us and then freak and run home to hide when we started shooting. Then she got to where she recognized a gun and would go crawl under the couch whenever she saw one.
Then she learned to recognize the WORD "gun" and would hide if she heard you even say it.
Needless to say, she was not a hunting dog.
Poor puppy!
Chloe did much better once the fireworks stopped. Usually she doesn't have any problems...but I think the constant noise got to her.
