the fireworks

that my neighbors down the street we setting off were stressing my dog out so bad.  She kept running upstairs and then back down and looking around and running back upstairs...she was so stressed out.  We tired to comfort her and she sat with us for a few minutes until the next one went off.  We just spent the afternoon at my mom's, so she was tired from the exciting afternoon, but she couldn't rest because of the noises from the fireworks.  She's FINALLY resting.  Poor baby.

Re: the fireworks

  • HH's dog has been massively stressed the last 3 days or so, since neighbors have been setting them off.  Poor girl!

  • My grandparent's dogs and my in-laws dog all get "doggie downers".  They are prescribed by the vet and it's basically a type of xanax/sedative.

It sucks to watch them be so sedated, but it's definitely better than the alternative.

    Poor doggies =(

  • Aww that is a sin!  Nothing fazes Stella, she is the most laid back dog when it comes to loud noises.  When it's thunder and lightning, I'm the one cowering underneath the covers, and she's looking at me like "what's the problem Mom?  I'm here for snuggles if you need me, but then...I'm always here for snuggles."

  • Awww! Poor doggies. My cat is only marginally concerned about thunder and fireworks, but the dog we had when I was growing up was TERRIFIED of them.

My family all hunts (I only went for two years, until my brother got old enough; then I handed the gun over to him). When we first got the dog, she would trot back to the target range with us and then freak and run home to hide when we started shooting. Then she got to where she recognized a gun and would go crawl under the couch whenever she saw one.

Then she learned to recognize the WORD "gun" and would hide if she heard you even say it.

Needless to say, she was not a hunting dog.

  • Poor puppy!

Chloe did much better once the fireworks stopped.  Usually she doesn't have any problems...but I think the constant noise got to her.

  • awww poor dog!! My lab growing up was terrified of fireworks and thunderstorms, she would shake and pant!!  Last night our neighbors were shooting them off and my cat would just turn his head and look at me like what was that mom. haha
  • haha...one of my cats didn't care and the other one was hiding the whole time!! :)  He's our 'fraidy cat!

  • I have had to sedate one of my dogs almost every evening for the last week.  I am so glad the fourth is past.
