Good picnic spots in Boston?

Hi fellow Bostonians!  I still don't know my way around here and tomorrow's my one year anniversary of moving to Boston. Embarrassed  Anyway, can someone recommend a good spot for a picnic in this area?  I'm looking for a nice romantic spot with DH, and another option for larger groups.  Thank you for your help!

Re: Good picnic spots in Boston?

  • Are you looking for something in Boston proper?  I think the Commons are nice, but maybe you're looking for something smaller and more neighborhood-y?  I unfortunately don't know that many parks in town.
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • The only place I know to suggest is Boston Common..
  • On the Cambridge side of the Charles river, there are a TON little grassy areas you can picnic.  You can just cruise down Memorial Drive looking. :)  DH and I have been walking every night so that I get SOME sort of exercise, and we take a lot of walks down Memorial along the river.

  • Christopher Columbus Park by the Aquarium is really pretty. They have a beautiful archway and fountains. Great grassy areas for a picnic.

  • I like the Decordova Museum sculpture park but it is a little bit outside of Boston.
  • Nut Island in Quincy!
