New Neighbors, what should I take them

We had new neighbors move in over the past weekend and I would like to take them something and introduce ourselves.  What is something good to take?  Some people are strange about food, but chocolate chip cookies are the only thing that keep popping up in my head.

Suggestions?

Re: New Neighbors, what should I take them

  • Maybe a bottle of wine?
  • if i were your new neighbor, i would be one of those people who would appreciate the food item(s), but would be really leary of actually eating them and probably wouldn't.  (i know, too paranoid.)  and i wouldn't actually want a bottle of wine because i don't like wine.  (hey, free future regift!  j/k)

i saw an idea somewhere about making a collection of local takeout menus, library info brochure, local park brochure, farmer's market brochure, etc., etc., or simply typing up the info (listing websites, for example).  i remember the suggestion included listing "trash pickup day", what time the mail is usually delivered (unless it's my neighborhood and that could be 11:30 or 4:30, who knows), lawn service recs, pest control recs, reliable plumber and a/c recs, etc.  so it's kind of a "paperwork" gift.  that's something i would have liked when i moved in.

maybe you could do a fruit basket? its summer so fruit is cheap right now (and good!) moving = lots of eating out so the fruit might be greatly appreciated!

  • When we moved into our apartment they gave us a gift basket with the following:

paper towels (who couldn't use more)

    box of spaghetti

    jar of spaghetti sauce

    two mini bottles of wine

    some take out menus

and some other stuff that I'll add if I recall. It was really nice to get some simple easy stuff. Maybe a small care sort of package like that?
