My parents are coming into town and I want to take them to a couple of wineries (plus I'll be able to cross off a 101 goal). What are a few locations that you like that have tastings, preferably free, and aren't too far away?
Re: Wineries
Mandola is awesome!
I also like Driftwood Estate Winery
Our Family Blog
My two favorites:
Texas Hills Vineyard (try their Kick Butt Cab!)
Torre di Pietra - They have a really nice huge outdoor area out back with live music, so we always make this a stop. We pack fruit, cheeses, snacks, and buy a bottle of wine to share while we hang out.
Fredericksburg winery - you can taste like 10 wines here for free
!! The only rule is you must go left to right and you can't go back and try anything to the left of what you've just tried,
I'm not a big fan of Becker to be honest. The tasting fees are higher, and its always busy in there, so I dont feel like I get to enjoy the tasting without being jostled around. But .. . .I'm the minority.. we end up making this a stop if we're going with friends because people always want to go there.
