Do you think there's any hope? It took a swim in a glass of water last night. I've got it in white rice but it won't even turn on so I'm not feeling optimistic. I miss it so much. Maybe this is a good way to help break my addiction.

Ready to rumble.
Re: :sobs: wet iphone
I dropped my 3G in the bathtub and it made it.
Here's what I did. Frantically removed the SIM card slot, blew through it like a nintendo cartridge while sobbing and dripping wet. Used the blow dryer on cool setting for a little while. Dried off and told my husband about it. He put some rubbing alcohol on a q-tip and kind of dripped it in there.
I never had problems with it turning on/off. But all of the buttons were screwy, headphone jack didn't work, and I had a big orange blob on the screen. I turned it off and waited like 48 hours, then when I turned it back on it was totally fine. Hopefully if you wait a little while longer it will dry out. I would try alcohol today if you haven't done it yet.

I"m desperately missing mine. :'(
My cell phone (not an iphone though) went with me on a water ride at an amusement park and got soaked. It would not turn on either.
I took the battery out, blew the phone dry on low for a little while and left it over night to dry out. It evenutally turned back on and worked fine.
I'm sorry. I dropped mine in the toilet one time and it was curtains for the old broad. I ended up getting a refurb'ed one from the Apple Store but I think it was the same price as an upgrade. They might have the 3G's for $99.

My coworker accidentally ran her brand new iPhone 4 through the washing machine this weekend.
Apple actually replaced it for her for free. I have no idea how/why, but they did.
Give it a little more time, hopefully yours isn't as damaged as hers since it was just a dunk in water instead of running through a whole wash cycle! It might dry out and turn back on.

Lanie, I thought of you. We can go through withdrawls together.
I blew canned air in all the holes last night to see if that would do any good, I was afraid the blowdryer would be too hot. If you disassemble it the warranty is void (but will that really matter if it's wet). I'll try taking the SIM card out when I get home tonight.

You can take it apart. Search for videos on how to replace the lcd screen on youtube and you'll find several that show how to disassemble it.
Also, how low does your oven get? A super low setting of dry heat is fine (and the blow dryer is completely fine on heat or cool setting. I used a heat gun to loosen the glue when taking a cracked screen off Okla's and it worked just fine afterwards)
Thanks Wendy. Our oven's lowest setting is warm, then 200. I think the toaster oven might have a low setting also.
I can see water in the corners of the screen...wonder if that will have to be replaced also.
