Any advice, other than don't do it? I figure it has to be better than camping at 8 1/2 months pregnant.
I've read a few articles, my biggest concern is if he gets fussy late at night it might piss off the neighboring tents. Um, but if you want peace and quiet you wouldn't be getting away from it all at a state campground, right?

Re: camping with an infant?
meh a baby cried near us after midnight this weekend, and the 3.5 year old we camped with had a meltdown of epic proportions at 7:30 one morning. It happens.

My friend took her baby camping with no issues. I don't remember hearing him waking up crying at night, so I guess that means either he was a really good sleeper or I was.
My only suggestion would be that you camp someplace close to home. That way if it's a bust, it'll be a quick car ride back to home base.

Babies cry. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
I'd be concerned about bugs.
We were going to this past weekend, but I chickened out. We have created a child set in his routine. We haven't had the best of luck sleeping with him in hotel rooms, so I fear how he will handle a tent.
We will do it at some point this summer. But I am skeered.
We're going to Beverley Beach just north of Newport, so it's not a long drive. We wanted the ocean and I'm a little sick of Nehelam. We're planning on two nights for Bug's bday, but if it's a bust we'll cut it down to one.

We went camping w/N last year when he was about 6 months old. It wasn't too bad. I bought one of those nets that go over the PnP, and it helped in keeping the bugs away and he was pretty content just hanging out there.
I also brought a exercaucer, so he played in that a lot.
Bring lots of wipes, bottled water, hand sanitizer & puffs. a baby monitor if you're going to be hanging by the fire away from the tent/cabin. How old is the kid?
10 months. I don't think a net would work over the pnp b/c he's standing. (He also likes to play peekaboo with the rail which is the cutest thing evar.) I was going to grab a few of those OFF clips and clip them around the campsite. Bugs don't tend to get too bad in the PacNW.
The excersaucer is a good idea, we have a jumperoo, but same thing. Thanks!
