Does anyone feel sad about changing their name? I am going to change mine, but you know, it's been my name forever and it's such a huge part of me. I don't know, I think of my Dad and my Mom and how I'll never have the same last name anymore.
Okay, I'm done now.

Finally...we are Mr. & Mrs.!!! WooHoo!!!

Re: Sad about name change?
Nope. Not sad at all. Of course, my father is giant asshat and didn't come to the wedding or even send an email saying congrats. I want nothing that ties me to him. Mom isn't sad either. She got rid of that name years ago when she remarried.
But I can see why you are sad. Maybe if I had a better father, I would be sad, too.
It's almost here! Weeeeeeee!

I am a little sad. My parents mentioned that too, how they were losing another W (there aren't a lot of family in my direct line who can carry on the name). At the same time though, both my brother and cousin had sons so they were just being a bit dramatic lol. I am glad to change my name and I look forward to when it's official but there's a part of me that sniffles at the fact
Funny story about that too- the day after the wedding we all went to breakfast and my sister turned to me and my sister-in-law (brother's wife) and said I wasn't her real sister anymore because of my new name and that my SIL was her real one! Weird how that works lol
I just moved my maiden name to my middle name spot, but it's strange that my parents now address packages to Mrs. B. lol
I'm a little sad about it, but I'm more excited about being Mrs. B instead.

Actually, I'm sad I don't get to change my last name. I married someone with the same last name (not a cousin lol). Everyone keeps asking me what's my new last name and I tell them it hasn't changed, I still me. I didn't feel married for a few days due to no changes for me.
I feel slightly the same as it has been such a big part of me.
JB, I am on the fence about making my old last my new middle, was there extra paperwork for that or same?

i'm fairly certain it's true for the vast majority of states, regardless of whether or not they tell you it is (i know a lot of people who have been lied to because the clerk they got that day didn't like it).

I really really want(ed) my last name to match my H. I like waking up and him saying "good morning mrs. ****." He gets alll giddy and it's hilarious.
The only time I felt a little sad was tagging the photos of my dad walking me down the aisle and us having two different last names haha. He doesn't care though.
My Planning Bio
When I was at the SS office, I just had to fill out a piece of paper that asked for New name to appear on card, so I think you could just fill in First Name Maiden New Last with no trouble.
As for changing mine, I've had a couple little pings of sadness, but mostly I've been excited. I haven't made the switchover yet at work, which I think will be really weird, since that's when I introduce myself the most.
I haven't changed my name at work yet. I needed my new SS card to do it, which just came in the mail. and I was waiting for my nursing license paperwork to come because the name on my license has to match my name at work because of computer charting. So once I get that all changed, hopefully I'll be good. That & if Chase finally spells my name right on the new credit cards. It's only taken 2 tries

People do that??? Wow.
I have a small twang because I am the last one on our side with my last name. My grandpa has a brother with sons, so it's not dead... just not in our direct line any more. Other than that I am READY to change. My name was pronounced or spelled correctly, uh, never.

Sad. And people trust them, so they never do their own research. I'll research, but mostly because I assume stupidity, not maliciousness.
