My library sends an email notice three days before your books are due. I was just thinking that I have some books that have to be due soon so I signed onto my account and I have four books that were due on June 26th...I never got an email. So now I owe $12. I'm not happy!
Re: Ugh...stupid library!
Yay for the library love!
Sorry yours dropped the ball on the courtesy notice. As a circulation librarian, all I can say is... sometimes the computers win. Our notices occasionally get stalled when we're having system issues (or when the lady who runs the reports goes on vacation and forgets to arrange for a backup!).
I get complaints from faculty because they don't get any "this is due soon" emails for interlibrary loan items, but I always sweetly point out that I write and HIGHLIGHT the due date on the strap that goes across the front cover. They still don't like me, but I'm not in charge of the technology, so it's the best I can do.
Ugh that is so annoying. That happened to me once with some books that I loaned out to help me write a school paper (this was a few years ago). I totally forgot all about it, and I have to be honest I was totally relying on getting that reminder email. I went back the library a few weeks later to check out some other books and they told me that I had overdue books totally about $25. I was PO'ed but was reminded that those emails are a COURTESY and that it was still my responsibility to get my books back on time. The thing is, when they do these courtesy things, you begin to rely on them! I had to pay the $$ and I was not impressed.
But, I do love the library. Which reminds me, I was planning on getting a library card this week, since I just moved and all!
