Wedding gift from parents

For those of you whose parents either paid for at least half or all of your wedding, did they also give you a wedding present?  If so, what did they give you?

Re: Wedding gift from parents

  • My parents gave us a check that we used for a small portion of the wedding.  I bought them a Kitchen Aid mixer & called it a wedding/both of their birthdays gift.

  • They gave us money and gold jewelry but part of that is because it's tradition to do so as part of a tea ceremony.
  • My parents paid for our wedding and gave us money as a gift.  Definitely wasn't expected but super appreciated!

  • Both of our parents paid 1/3 (we paid the other 1/3) of the costs for the wedding.  How awesome is that??  That was their gift to us.  They also each gave us a shower gift.  We gave them a gift for helping us fund our celebration- a professional family photo session with a really great photog that does onsite sessions and a hand written card.
  • My parents paid about 1/3 of the total, though we didn't expect them to contribute--it was a pleasant surprise! (we're both in our 30s and had planned on paying the full bill ourselves).

They also got us a kitchen aid mixer b/c mom got a great deal at Macy's (she works in their credit center and gets all kinds of discounts).

  • My parents paid for the wedding, bought us a grill for a shower present, patio set as the other shower present, and then a futon for our wedding present. My IL's paid for the rehearsal dinner and our honeymoon. They gave me a sewing box for one shower and other sewing supplies as the other shower gift. And gave us a check as the wedding present.

My parents paid for 1/3 of our wedding & my dress, and our wedding gift from them was all of our china!  We were so shocked, but since they didn't have any family heirlooms, we were told this would be the start of one to eventually pass down.
  • Well my parent did not help with any of the wedding and did not give us a gift. My in-laws on the other hand paid for the rehearsal dinner and helped us with some other wedding cost. For my shower they got us a new mattress along with some other miscellaneous bedroom and kitchen things. They also got us a very expensive bottle of champagne and champagne flutes for our us to use on our wedding night or honeymoon.

  • My parents are divorced and split the wedding. They both gave us a gift. They weren't huge things but we were happy and surprised. My dad got us a GPS (ours got stolen and we really wanted one) and I think my mom gave us money which we used to help us buy a dryer(ours died) lol :) we didn't expect ANYTHING!!
