about MIL being engaged
I told J last night that D is not going to MILs alone for her to watch him until we get to know her boyfriend. I said as D's mother I have every single right to get to know who this man is before I allow my son to be alone with the two of them. Not that his mom would let anything happen, but we do not know this guy at all. I also threw in there that it looks like he will be around for a while considering they are getting married. I got the evil eye for that one, but it is the truth. Am I wrong? I think any mother or father would feel the same way I do. This man is a stranger to me, do you really think I'd allow him to be around D without J and I there without getting to know him first?? what parent really would?? maybe I'm weird

I also want to add in that I've realized J is using me as an excuse. His mom does not come around at all anymore, I know it is because she is wrapped up in this guy and I don't think J wants to think about it or deal with it. And I think he is hurt. So last night he tried to blame me for the fact she doesn't come around. Sorry buddy but we call your mom at least once a week, if not more and she always says she is coming to visit and then cancels last minute. How is that because of me?????
I sometimes get the feeling that she puts on this big act about being super grandma, but when it comes down to it I think she is slightly selfish and only cares about herself in a way. She is obviously very involved with this man for her to not come around at all, she went from 1-2 visits a week to nothing the last few months, just like that.
I would feel the same way. And it is still REALLY weird to me that she hasn't told you guys.
I didn't know she had any logic... lol To answer your question though, I would want to meet the guy too. No way would I send my child to be alone with someone I do not know.
