Since I can't say anything to any of my friends & family just yet (they just know we're not waiting too long to start a family) I can tell you guys! We officially started trying this cycle.
Not sure if we'll have any luck this month since DH and I are in different states for the middle of what are supposed to be my fertile days this months (I've been tracking my cycles for a little over a year now with an app for my iPhone* and I'm super regular) but we made sure to try and ensure the very beginning of that time window was covered.
Ha. So we'll see. Not holding my breath for this cycle but there's always next month if no luck in July! Whatever happens, happens.
I'm so excited that we're going for it now, though!
*Clearly this method isn't as scientific or as intense as charting that the girls on the TTC board are using but we're going to be relaxed about it at first and see how nature cooperates. If a few months go by with no luck, I'll start being more rigorous with the charting / temps, stuff like that. But for now we'll see what happens...
Re: Can you keep a secret?
Congrats and Good Luck!! There is a website that also offers a free 30 trial called Fertility Friend and really helped DH and I with our first. You can use it on your phone too to keep it on the DL if you wanted.
Yay!! Good luck!! I'm not even going to bother charting.
WARNING: TMI:
HH and I do the deed VERY regularly... we have an amazing sex-life even after almost 4 years. I figure we'll just keep our regular pattern going and see what happens from there.
Congrats and good luck! I won't be charting when we start trying either. We'll just see what happens =]
Ditto! Haha - we're very regular in that dept, as well! Unfortunately, DHs work schedule keeps us apart for several days each week, though, so when it falls in the middle of my anticipated fertile days it's going to be annoying. Unless we had some luck this go around! Which of course I won't have any idea for a little while.
ETA - thanks, Pam! The fun is definately in the trying - LOL! And we're having lots of fun...he's just lucky he can keep up with me! haha.
That is exciting news! Originally HH and I had decided that I would stop taking BCP during our honeymoon (August) and just let nature run it's course. We talked about getting pre-natal vitamins a few months ago, and HH told me that he would be ok with me starting that in July. (Because that would make the whole thing seem more real for him...he wanted to wait until July, haha). We were at Costco on June 30th, and I started to head to the vitamin section, and he laughed and said "no no, it's not July yet!" I was like "Babe, July is in two days. I will buy them now and then just not take them 'til then" but because we're at Costco 3x a week, I just let it go and didn't get them. Sure enough, we were back there on July 2 - he walked right over to the vitamins and said "Ok, you can get them now" so I was standing there with the vitamins in my hand, and I totally PANICKED. And threw them back on the shelf and high tailed it out of there. I think HH was like...well, that was unexpected. LOL. Since I want to be taking pre-natal vitamins for a few months before we try anything, just to be on the safe side...that is going to push out the expected "trying" date for a while yet.
Maybe it was "Crotch Care 101" that did it. I'm not ready yet. But I also know I don't want to wait much longer - it is just so permanent, you know? Once it happens, there is no taking it back, or deciding that I DO like to be able to sleep in, or go out for drinks with friends.
Ahhh...I'm sorry I didn't mean to hijack your post with no-baby talk. I am really excited for you, and it is really awesome that you guys are ready for this step! You are braver than me right now

Married May 1st, 2010
I just read Crotch Care 101 - sweet Mother of God. I also emailed it to my husband, with a note "I hope you know what we're getting into."
Well, I look at it this way - millions of other women go through childbirth every day. Our bodies are designed for it. At least we live in a culture where we have access to the things that can ease the recovery process - super absorbant pads, witch hazel, squirt bottles, and so on...I'd hate to be a women birthing out a baby in a 3rd world country with no access to so many things we have here (including top rate medical care and the ability to give birth in a clean, safe environment as opposed to say, a jungle or warzone).
That's so exciting....Good luck!!
We are in the same boat as you guys, but we are in the same state all month
I didn't share that particular article with Matt, but whenever we hear little gems of information about pregnancy, childbirth, or the aftermath, he looks distressed, takes my hand, and goes, "Oh, hun! I'm so sorry!" Haha.
I just laughed out loud when I read this!!!
Good luck on your "mission". It freaks me out and we were going to wait a year but I may make it like 3 years.......
You've heard what I've done, not what I've been through.
If you were in my shoes, you'd fall the first step."
