I was talking to MIL yesterday about wedding gifts and realized that we still haven't actually opened the wedding gifts we got in the mail. I know what they all are and who they came from, for the most part because it says it with the shipping info, but haven't actually unwrapped any or written down the information on our gift tracker spreadsheet.
I think part of the reason is because we are getting Thank You cards made from a pro pic and have yet to get the copy of the photo we need so I just haven't even thought of going into the room where all the gifts are. But honestly,if ILs hadn't taken the presents from the day back to their house and made us open them in front of them, I doubt those would be open either. I think another reason is that I don't even want to THINK about where I am going to put all the stuff and what to do with the items they are replacing.
Anyone else have this problem or am I a freak for not wanting to rip off the wrapping paper and give my new items their proper home?
Re: unmotivated
You're a freak. I love prezzies. Not gonna lie.
I am the girl who tells her HH on a weekly basis, "Honey, I think I need a present today" Most of the time he just laughs at me, but occasionally I can convince him to get me something. Of course, a "present" to me is usually something that is $5 or less, and involves paper products...I love paper products. He also knows that he is not allowed to go away for work without coming back with something for me. This may make me a bit of a spoiled princess, which I'm not, I swear. Ok, I am a little bit. But I like buying other people presents too, so I'm not a total hooch.
YES!!!! You're just like me!!! I tell Adam that I need a "prize" all the time!!! Especially if I'm having a craptastic day at work, he'll go out and get me a prize... could be some candy, a stuffed monkey (he apparently has a thing for getting me stuffed monkeys... I now have 4 of them), or even something from one of those 25 cent machines at a grocery store. I LOVE random stuff!
Wedding present stuff though, I couldn't wait to open mine! The only thing I'm still dreading is having to write the thank you notes. I HATE writing those!!!
HH and I laid in our wedding clothes and opened our wedding gifts the night of the wedding. We had a smallish wedding of 60 ppl though so most of the gifts were cards.
But, I have a closet with a few gifts still left to be put away. New towels I need to wash first, coffee maker that needs a home, other odds and ends. But I ripped open the packages first thing!
I say I need a prize all the time! LOL! I love these little things that are from the candy machines but are a $1.00 that are pooh bears dressed up as something else. They are the best prizes but sometimes its candy or he brings home dinner we just never know. HAHA
Blah I KNEW I was a freak.
But you have to know, I LOVE presents usually! My b-day was actually yesterday and I opened those and was so excited like a normal human being. I think it's just the sheer volume of the gifts left to open and that I know what they are so I don't really need to open them until I know where they are going... which I WAS excited about until I actually got back from HM and realized the work involved in that. But they are seriously overtaking my freaking guest room and I want it back! any of you present lovers want to come open and find homes for all my new wedding presents

I was excited to open ours, but mostly because I wanted to know what we didn't get so I could plan our trip to Target to fill in the gaps. I wanted to get the house set up and send the superfluous stuff to younger cousins or Goodwill.
I'm not usually a big presents person. Matt brings me flowers sometimes, but lately, it seems to happen mostly when he made me mad or if I was crying about something, so I'm starting to develop negative associations with them! Not good! Haha.
