Some woman called me last night supposedly from the Obama campaign and asked since now that we are in the final stretch would I consider donating again. I said sure and that I would go online to do so. She said, "Well tonight we aren't doing that and we are hoping for donations over the phone." I asked her what she meant, and how was she planning on getting the donation? She said "Well you could give your credit card info over the phone or we can send you a donor card."
Huh?
Yeah lady if you think I am going to give some random person calling my house my credit card number over the phone you have been smoking some crack. Further, if I say that I will make a donation online, say thanks and move on. A donor pledge card process is not going to be any faster than me going online. So either this person was a fraud or the campaign has a couple of idiots working for them. Needless to say, I did not go online and donate again.
I may next week, but not right now. ![]()
Re: Turned off by Obama call last night
I'm with Zoe...
I'd contact the campaign and let them know. It sounds like a scam, and the campaign should know about it, because it may well be that the security of their databases has been breached.
I am the 99%.
That sounds like a scam.
However, there is a good possibility that she took "I'll go online and donate" to mean, "I want to get off the phone so I'll tell her whatever I think she wants to hear even though I have no plans to donate". ?Our local FOP used to do this to us all of the time. ?They would not take no for an answer, nor would they take, "I'll make a donation online" for an answer. ?I used to screen their calls. ?It was bad.
