my shoes won

I wore a pair of heels for my interview today (which I think I rocked - I hope), and I have 4 blisters on each foot!!  My footwear consists of my sneakers, my rainbows, and a pair of reef flip flops.

Everytime I wear heels or dress shoes, I come out with greater respect for those of you that wear heels everyday.

  • I love heels!!!  What's hilarious is that I could probably run a marathon in heels (if I could actually run, that is, without hacking up a lung), yet I will trip over my own damn feet if I wear flip flops or tennis shoes.... I suck at walking.

  • I love heels to when I'm in the mood for them. 99% of the time I'm a flip flop girl but when I'm at work I wear heels (although I do occasionally wear the flops if I can get by with it).

  • haha ME TOO!!  I once wore crocs to work and I was running down the hall and for real tripped over my own feet and face planted straight onto the floor!

I'm kinda half and half.  I LOVE my flip flops and wear them whenever I can, but sometimes for work, I need dressier shoes, so I wear heels... and when I go out, I like to wear heels... Adam hates it because it makes me taller than him, but oh well!

I wear heels out on occasion to dinner, but we usually go grocery shopping afterwards. Walking around walmart for 1 1/2 plus hours in 3 inch heels doesn't feel very good on my feet =P

  • Sara, where's a good place to get heels? I would like to wear them to work more (you know, to look like a grown-up married lady 'n all), but I can never find any that aren't awful.
  • I WANT to wear heels...but I don't do it often enough so it's this painful when I do, and therefore, not worth it.  Maybe in a few years when I'm not doing direct patient care and not working in the hospital I can.

Sometimes you can find super cute heels at DSW.  The ones I'm wearing right now I got from there for 50 bucks... but they're more like high heeled flip flops, if that makes any sense... wait, here's the link:  http://www.dsw.com/shoe/moda+spana+tory+sandal?prodId=173022&productRef=SEARCH

I LOVE THEM!!!  They're super-comfy and dressier than regular flip flops... these are also the ones that I bled all over on our honeymoon... fun stuff.

Um, sometimes Kohls has decent heels if you're looking for just plain jane heels.  You just have to randomly catch them at places like Payless, etc.

  • Yeah, definitely don't wear heels if you do A LOT of walking during the day.  My building is gigantic (we have like 1000 people who work here) so I tend to do a lot of walking, but I'm used to it now.  My first day, when my boss was showing me around the building, I hadn't worn heels in a while and my feet were SCREAMING at me by the end of the day.

  • I love wearing heels! I don't very often though because I don't have places to wear them since I am currently a domestic engineer and I'm already 6ft tall so Cody hates it when I wear heels around him (he's 5'10)  I like to wear sling backs because they give me less blisters. I find them at famous footwear, payless, DSW is amazing, and sometimes I get lucky at Gordman's or Kohls

  • Oh I'm SUCH a shoe girl!!  I teach kindergarten wearing 4 inch heels.  I hate ugly frumpy shoes, so I will suffer if need be, however I know I'm going to regret it when I have varicose veins when I'm 40.

My shoes were always a topic of conversation at school - the other teachers would ask my advice about shoes, the parents of my students would always check them out, and when I got married virtually every single student made a point of drawing me in an awesome pair of heels on the cards they made me.  I love it but I'm probably a terrible influence on the little girls in my class.

  • I wish I could do it, but I just can't. I'm a flip-flop girl. I have lots of foot problems though, and that's part of it (extra bone in one foot, really wide feet, etc). Most fancy/pretty shoes don't work on my feet because they're really wide. I had to do some serious searching for my wedding shoes, and thankfully zappos pulled through.

Kudos to you girls who rock the stilettos. They're hot. My feet just aren't the supermodels I wish they were to pull them off.
  • I used to wear heels all the time, but then I had to have foot surgery.  For long time after I couldn't wear heels at all, but now two years later I can wear them some.  I definitely miss being able to wear them all the time and I have tons of cute shoes in my closet that I can't wear.

I'm a librarian, so I have to be careful to not be unduly influenced by my environment. I'm all for "sexy librarian shoes" if they're not over the top, but then there are the "comfy librarian shoes," which are basically orthopedics. Those are what I see around me every day. I wish I were on my feet less so I could wear cute stuff more often. It's hard to find that balance between fashion and function.
