Mixed drink ideas?

I don't post here often, but am attending a bachelorette party in Chicago this weekend.  We are meeting at a hotel and getting ready there (the party is after a family bridal shower so we will all need to change and whatnot).  I offered to bring a mixed drink for when we're at the hotel before we go out and am trying to get some ideas of what to take.  I don't want it to be something too hard since we will have a long night ahead of us and probably won't have a lot of food in our stomachs yet.  Maybe something fruity but not too sugary... ideas??

Also, nothing was mentioned in the invite about gifts, but do you normally take a gift to a bachelorette party?  I've only been to one other besides my own and that was clearly labeled in the invite bachelorette party/lingerie shower.  I was planning on picking something up, but didn't want to feel akward if i'm the only on there with a gift.  And unfortnately I don't know anyone else attending to ask them.. it's for soon to be SIL and I really only know her.

Re: Mixed drink ideas?

  • Have fun!!

Malibu & coke is a good mix.  Or Dr Pepper & Rum.

Every bachelorette party I've been to has had gifts.  Even if it's something small and silly (like a mini blow up pecker for the bride to carry around! haha)

ETA: they make pre-mixed drinks called "GIRL" they are in a pink sparkly bottle.  They are usually a bit much by themselves but good when mixed with 7up or a cranberry/raspberry juice.

  • For a cocktail, maybe Cosmos...they are girly pink and not too strong and a little fruity. All they take is vodka, cranberry juice, triple sec and lime juice.

I always bring gifts to bachelorette parties. If its more of a risque party, I usually bring lingerie, sex toys, lube, etc. For a girl who is more subdued, I give a gift certificate for a mani, pedi, massage, facial, etc. Something the bride can use to relax from all the stress of planning the wedding.

  • I sent a gift for my cousins bacch party, but there were no gifts at time. Maybe ask the person hosting it?
  • Not sure if you're experiencing the heatwave we are but coconut rum and pinapple juice can be quite refreshing on hot days. Or champaigne with fresh fruit in it..like raspberries?

Personally, I've never brought a gift to a bachlorette party. I usually ask the guest what I can bring (esp. if we're going crazy with penis paraphanalia) and then thats my contribution. Then I buy the girl a drink.

  • Maybe just champagne?  I think that would be a great drink while getting ready for a night out with a bunch of girls...

  • Champagne with a splash of Midori or Pama.

As for the gift, imo, it would depend on how close I am with the bride. If I will be at a shower another time and it's not my best friend I would bring a classy gift to the shower and make sure she doesn't have to spend a penny at the bachelorette party.

  • I vote for bellinis, champagne and peach schnapps, very fruity and light, not too hard.

I usually bring something small to a bachelorette party, maybe a pen!s shaped ring or something equally tacky as a gag gift.

  • I like the idea of champagne, and maybe fruit juice (pineaple, passion fruit, peach nectar) to mix into it.  Or how about mango or pineapple margaritas?  You can buy the pre-made mix, or make your own and just pour over ice.

As far as the gift goes, I would definitely get something.  A nice little nightgown thing or bra and panty set are my go-tos for bachelorette gifts.

  • For drinks, you could do champagne with a splash of Chambord and a raspberry in the bottom, or a wedding cake martini which is vanilla vodka, pineapple juice and a splash of grenadine.

For gifts, I also always take something funny from an adult store. After all of our bachelorette parties, we have collected a bachelorette basket and it just keeps getting piled with more and more phallic shaped items! it's a fun little tradition we've started and it comes with us for every bachelorette party!

  • At mine we started with the drink "Blushing Bride". Its just a glass of champagne with some peach schnapps and a dash of grenadine to make it red. Fits with the theme!

I've only been to one bachelorette, my own :) And yes there were gifts but it was a joint gift from all the girls, not individually. My brothers girlsfriend also came along and since she wasnt a BM she got me something on her own...they were little sexy panties from VS that said 'bride' on them.

  • On the gift side... I like to bring a gift wherever I go.  And I think that bringing something fun to a bachelroette party is always good to do if you can afford it.  But, don't think it is expected and don't feel awkward if you are the only one who brings something.  That is not a big deal at all.  :)

Drink suggestion... Three Olives Cherry and Sprite.  Totally cheap and easy and yummy!  It is not too sugary at all.  You could do cherry or raspberry, both are amazing!  Anyway, have fun!
