Ugh Need to Vent....

So we were rearended on friday Morning. It wasn't too bad not a lot of damage but of course things still need to be fixed. So I talked to the Collison place on Friday set everything up for Today. Had to wait till Tues to talk to the insurance agent. So I talked with him and made it clear that I needed a Min Van or a SUV because of three carseats and the strollers. He said ok that's fine just do wht you need to do.

So I go in this morning get settled go get the rental car. I walk outside with the lady and she goes ok here we are. I looked at her and the SMALL Kia Optima and I Laughed I said ok either someone didn't write down the notes or your taking care of a child for one week LOL

She goes oh ummm Yeah it did say Minivan didn't. NO ***!
(I didn't say that outloud though lol)

So we go inside she says the Insuarnce company only allowed 29.99 a day.. You'll have to pay the difference Umm  no I won't it isn't my fault I was rearended. So I called the insurance agency and finally got it figured out.

Ugh I so want my Suv back....

Re: Ugh Need to Vent....

  • Uhm yeah.  They usually don't give you an equivalent of what you currently drive.  It depends on what the persons daily coverage is.

Like me I have a 30.00 daily allowance for rental.  When Joe (drives a Titan) wrecked his truck coming to see us for Christmas we ended up with a PT Cruiser.  If we wanted something bigger we would have had to come out of pocket.  Same as when I was hit a few years ago and what the other persons daily allowance was.

Good for you if it worked out ;)

  • Yeah I really could have cared less if it was just me and Kevin and Collin but since I pick up the kids there is no way it was going to work if it was a car.
  • Glad it worked out!
  • Yeah when someone hit me a few years back, they gave me a chevy cobalt. I called it the sh!tty cobalt it sucked so bad. Didnt even have power locks. I just assumed that all cars now came with power locks lol. But going from my 05 mustang to the sh!tty cobalt was definitely a huge downgrade. I really hated that car.

Hmm... I know when I got into an accident and it was deemed my fault, I was only covered up to around $30 and had to pay extra if I wanted a bigger car.  But I would think if someone else hit you, and you did need a bigger car, that they would be required to cover it.

Sorry it was a hassle but I'm glad they ended up working things out for you.  And hopefully you get your car back soon!

Ya the insurance agent said that it just gets added on to there deducible because I need it, it's not like I'm asking for a better car because I wanted it. So they have to approve it. Which I'm glad worked out.

  • What a PIA!  I am glad that the insurance company worked it out for you, though.  Usually they are not so hospitable.
