Hey ladies!
So I've mentioned before that my HH is a cop. Right now he is a Sgt. and acting Lieutenant for his squad. Well he's decided to apply for the K-9 position! He'll be the scary guy with even scarier puppies. This will mean 12-16 hours of over time per pay period which is AWESOME! This also means putting in kennels at our new house and taking in a few new pups.
Basically I'm stoked and had to share
Re: New Chapter
congratulations! will the dogs already come trained?
if so, that's even better, no puppy potty training
good luck to your husband
HOLY SMOKES! How many do you get in his department?? My department we have 2 K-9 handlers and they each have one dog. Those dogs are the most well trained dogs ever, but I tell you what when they come in to dispatch and start barking.. it's quite scary! You'll love it if he gets the position! Such a dedicated animal to him and your family!
Quick story: One of our handlers was in a chase with his dog and hurt his knee (dog wrestled the bad guy down and got a good bite on him.. so his mouth was sore too). The officer slept on his couch and Radar stayed right by his side all night and didn't sleep because he was so worried about his daddy.
That is so amazing! Are all police dogs German Shepherds? HH had a GS when he was growing up and so he is a bit obsessed with them now - he thinks they're the best dogs ever, and they are definitely SO smart. Poor Stella doesn't hold a candle in comparison. (This is the dog who walked head on into a glass bus shelter when she was a puppy, because she was so busy prancing for people who were fawning over her adorableness. Cute, yes. Smart, uhhh not so much.)
This is such a great opportunity for you guys - will you get lots of cuddle time with the dog too?
Nope... not all of them. Here, you gt a German Shepherd or a Malinwa... (basically a super hyper GS)... We already have a GS, but he's just our little baby. We never got around to training him to do anything besides be a cuddle bug.
As much as I'd like to get tons of cuddle time, they're still working dogs and they won't listen to me. Jason will train them to only listen to him in either Czech or German.
I'm just stoked to add another member to our family... and another member to our home security system ;-)
Do you mean a Belgian Malinois? I was like.. hmmm, I've never heard of that! Must be new! lol.
Here we have labs, too, they're usually used as the drug dogs.
Hmmm...maybe new doggie will teach old doggie some tricks? Haha there's always hope!
And good point on the home security too...yours will definitely be a house that I wouldn't want to mess with!
This is so exciting!!! I agree that we need pictures though : )
And as if anyone would mess with a cop's house to begin with, now they'll definitely stay far away!
Ali-- yep, that's what I mean. I def can't spell in the morning. Like at all. haha
And yes, pictures will come
