So...in case you don't follow NBA, LeBron James is a free agent. For the last 3 years, he's been talking about leaving Cleveland once his contract is up. Poor Cleveland fans...they've been begging him to stay. They've had parades for him, pep rallies, fans have stood outside the team offices during his meetings -- holding signs and things. A bunch of local celebrities even made a music video a la "We Are the World," changing all the lyrics to ask LeBron to stay.
Yes, he's a talented player. No...he's not God. And he's been pretty much a pompous ass since he was in high school. (The media doesn't help...I'm sure he isn't the one who decided to refer to him as "King James" when he was a rookie.) (And as a side note to Cleveland fans....have you noticed that the Cavs haven't won a championship with him there??)
Anyways...did you see that there will be a one hour show on ESPN tonight so that he can announce which team he's decided to play for next year? Ugh. He just rubs me the wrong way.

Re: LeBron
Yes, DH told me that yesterday. What a joke. I bet he doesnt even leave Cleveland he just likes the publicity.
He is a pompous ass Carrie. I can't stand him and will certainly not be watching. I am glad the Celtics beat his ass!

I think if it were a press conference, that'd be one thing. But this isn't. It's basically a one-hour long infomercial that his own marketing company has put together.
But you're right...it's not really a big deal (it just annoys me
). And at least he doesn't go around getting into trouble and expecting his celebrity status to get him off the hook. I will give him that.

Yeah, its all pretty silly. Did you see where the women on the TVLand show "Hot in Cleveland" want him to stay too? LMAO I love Betty White.
In his defense, ESPN is paying him to do this one hour show-so like you said the media is what makes all of this ruckus....BUT he is donating all of the money to the boys and girls club. That's awesome.
I had not heard he was donating the money to charity. Thats pretty cool. Alot of the athletes would have just kept the money and kept getting richer.
Carrie yeah you just dont hear about him going out and getting DUI's or with drugs or anything. Whoever he has for PR is doing a great job to me.
But in all honesty he is a good basketball player and I do understand the hype and excitment around him. I personally do not care for basketball but I can see where people get excited and want to know more and EPSN feeds into that. But dont they always feed in what people want to know. Remember the Brett Favre saga? That story went on and on and on....
Yep. And that annoyed the heck out of me, too, even though I really like Brett Favre.

Yeah I like Brett also but I think it was his time to go a long time ago.
