pediatrician AFSBCN

I fear being one of those parents that calls the pediatrician over every little thing.

Dagger has some little tiny red bumps all over his abdomen and neck. No fever and they don't seem to bother him, he's not acting sick or anything. I have an appointment in 2 weeks, but I wonder if I should call. I knnow babies get all sorts of weird but normal skin things, but I cannot find this in my books or online. And since he doesn't have fever I assume it's nothing to worry about.

Re: pediatrician AFSBCN

  • Baby acne? It migrated all over my kids bodies.

  • I never worried about being "that mom" as I assume I just blend in with the rest of them.

I wouldn't really worry about the bumps.  It could be some sort of heat rash/sweating thing.  Andy just had a little outbreak a couple of weeks ago.  However, with Ryker's age, I would still probably call the nurse line.  They may have a suggestion of something to use on it.

But really, you could also just keep it dry, wait a day or two, and see if it goes away before calling.

  • Herpes.  Don't even bother getting him tested.

  • Another random question, did anybody's baby cry in their sleep. I'm not talking a whimper or two. He will full out wail and scream in his sleep without ever waking up. If I pick him up to soothe him, he wakes up. I tried waiting him out to see if it would stop, and he just kept crying and never woke up. It's weird. I obviously don't want to just let him cry, but I don't want to wake him up either.

  • hmmmm, poor little guy.
  • I would call about the rash, but not be too worried if it's not bothering him and there's no fever.

Ian would cry, grunt, moan, whimper, etc. in his sleep.  We eventually turned the monitor off because it was nonstop noise.

  • Also, I highly recommend the book Baby 411.  It was the bible I always consult before calling the doctor.  If you google baby 411 rash, they have a web-site with a photo gallery of rashes, but I don't know how useful it is without the book.

Same here.  We all (MC included) slept much better when we moved her to her own room and shut the monitor off.
