What's your new project?

There are about 100million things that I put off in the last stretch of wedding planning, and now I'm ready to get back into crafting and decorating and gardening.

(of course, first I have to clear out the dining room of the wedding that exploded in there, fun. But I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!!)

What are you working on next? I'm having a tough time choosing what to do first... would like to start knitting some Christmas presents but it's HOT and the thought of 6 pounds of yarn on my lap super sucks!

Re: What's your new project?

  • Getting through all of the wedding crap and organizing it... Then getting my spare bedroom back.

I'm hoping to be able to get back into my cardmaking and also start painting some Christmas projects so I have them done sooner than last minute.

  • Andy and I are just now living together so we have to put together our apartment.  Then I'm going to get involved in a couple of organizations.  I'm also going to start planning out Thanksgiving meal.  We're going to FIL's house but none of them like to cook and we do so we already told them we'd prepare it.

  • Wow, you ladies are really on top of these holiday and getting presents ready. I guess it really doesn't matter to us bc we don't know when the next time we will be home.

Right now, we are focused on putting the last few things of the wedding stuff away, deciding on pics from our photographer, looking for new places to live, buying some stuff off of our registry, starting our scrapbook and HM photo album. H needs to write out his TY's, but I will probably end up doing those, too.

  • Getting the thank you notes out as soon as we get our photos, and I definitely want to start some scrapbooks of our wedding and honeymoon. Looking for a new job, and getting a kitten sometime soon :)
  • Right now I am hanging drapes and putting up blinds. We are finally living together, and it was like hell moving his clothes into our new place. We still have boxes of his clothes at his parents house. We're going to start decorating and hanging pictures soon. It's taken me THREE days to just do the windows in the master bedroom. Getting home from work at 6PM and having to leave the house the next day at 6AM makes my evenings very short. I live for the weekend.

We're waiting for our wedding photos to be able to start with our thank you notes as well.

--cleaning! i need to move all the furniture to wash the hardwood floors, clean the refrigerator and coils, wash the moulding throughout the apt, vaccuum the walls, take everything out of the cabinets/pantry to wash the shelving...the list goes on. i may not be able to cook, but i sure am domestic when it comes to cleaning!

  • Get my summer clothes from my parents house, since it is 100+ degrees, and I have winter clothes at the Apt! Angry

  • Organizing, organizing, organizing.  Cleaning and making room for all this nice new stuff.

    Name change.

Figure out the easiest and fairest way to combine finances.

Begin looking for a townhouse/house to rent.  Perhaps talk to a real estate agent.

Marathon training starts in August, and back to work then as well.

    image
  • First I need to get my Thank you cards done.

Then probably start an album/scrapbook for the wedding pictures. (I'm still waiting for pictures)

Going on the HM in August

    Then baby planning.

There's also a few cleaning projects I want to get done. Like organizing the storage area and closets.

I don't usually start planning holiday stuff early because the majority of my family have summer birthdays and I have to get through those first!

Cleaning and organizing the apartment so I won't be embarrassed to have people over.  We've lived together for a year, and our cleaning has been minimal during that time because we're both lazy and messy.  Sometimes similarities are not with the awesome!

  • I want to redo the back bathroom- that requires peeling ugly wallpaper, retexturing, and painting.  I did it to the front BR, so it shouldn't be too hard.  I also want to paint the front room and get new living room furniture.

It would be nice to start scrapbooking again.

I want to get back to my gardening and landscaping, but that will have to wait until fall.  It's too hot in Texas to plant anything right now.

I miss baking.  I think I will make cookies and banana bread this weekend- just to get back in the swing of things.

We also used to be big into entertaining- well that got put on hold due to the fact we were entertaining 180 people in June.  We are starting off slow- BBQ on Sunday.

That's quite a lot that I put off for this dang wedding!

  • Finish thank you notes.

Organize wedding stuff and see what can be sold.

We finally found a reputable contractor who's done work in our building, so we need to set up a meeting with him so we can get this renovation on the road! (DH and I spent about 20 mins last night talking about 1 door. lol)

We will eventually need to sell our old crap furniture and buy new stuff, but not until all of the reno is complete.

ETA: Thanks for reminding me about Christmas/Chanukah shopping! Time to browse online for sales!

  • I want to learn how to sew!  Which is a pretty lofty goal but I'm gonna do it :)
  • Pack up all of my extra kitchen stuff so I can put the new stuff away. I still have not done it yet.

  • Well we are moving into our new apartment tomorrow. So that is project number one.

    2. Getting hippie's wedding present together and shipping it. I have half of it, but I am being really picky about the other half and want to get something totally unique (lol, <3 u!)

    3. Then we will need to get our place organized, and I need to get caught up on stuff that I fell behind on.

    4. We are working on getting finances in order, and having more disposable income.

    5. Finding H a new and better job.

    6. Making sure the renters of my house get settled, and taking care of anything that needs to be taken care of.

    7. Decorating the new apartment. I have a lot of old stuff, and I really want to get our place looking pottery barnish lol.

    8. Searching for new jobs for mwah.

    9. Getting my arse into workout mode and getting healthier.

    10. Start figuring out some travel plans for the next few years and saving up for them.

Yeah I think long term lol

  • Well thank God for Andy's Mom because she helped me sort, organize, and put wedding stuff away. That was not fun.

I also began the process of changing my name, and the mounds of thank you cards we have to write out.Ugh.

I really want to work on finding a new place to live.. the only thing is Andy won't be officially done with school until August and doesn't know what city he will have a job in. But we're in the Ann Arbor area.

  • i'm working on an afghan started in the fall and had to drop whe things got hectic. then i'm starting on a few christmas things- we're going to buy a fake tree (we cant have a real one :( ), and since we have to buy the expensive fake (with multicolored lights) i'm going to make/crochet a bunch of ornaments/decor that i dont already have.

plus it's gonna be much bigger than the normal stuff, so i've gotta fill it out- we like a busy xmas tree!

My first big xmas project is a tree skirt. I'mma make one for my parents too.  Then i might start on some stockings.

then various winter hats/scarves/mittens. (i started a ruffle scarf last year and never finished it. it's EXTRA cute.)

i'm going to continue my cooking to expand the monthly menu- which is the big project right now since i'm out of practice.

and get back into couponing for groceries and household products- my best is like 45% savings a week, and i'd like to get it to 60% a week, consistently. (aka i want to pay only 40% of what i'm charged. at the most)

we're also going to attempt a massive reduction of the high fructose corn syrup in our diet. it's not that we eat poorly, it's that it's in things you wouldn't even think about.

  • Finish the Thank You's once the cards get here.

Finish off our garage before winter.  We MUST.  I cannot stand that thing.  And install the new garage door opener so our neighbor will stop opening our stupid door and leaving it UP all day.

Bookmark certain registries of brides for Christmas presents. Hehe

Get my patio furniture and dining room set up to MN from Tennessee.  Why pay for it when it's sitting on the old house, hoping to be sold with the house?

    Planning a little GTG.

    Back in June 2010...
  • House hunting! We are living with my parents right now and hoping to buy before the end of September. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with trying to find a lender, real estate agent and then the actual house, but very excited about it! Then I'm sure we'll have plenty of projects to keep us busy.

I'm also going to do some scrapbooking of wedding/honeymoon stuff.

And would like to get back into brewing with the DH. We started making our own wine and beer last year and it's so fun! We've totally run out of beer and need to start making some more.

ETA: Oh, also forgot, I'm going to start working on my blog again. It took a big hiatus over the wedding.

  • We just bought a house, we close at the end of the month.  So decorating and getting the yard back in shape will be our new project, not to mention furniture shopping since we only have enough furniture for about 1/2 the house.  We are moving from 2 bedrooms with 1250 sq. feet to 4 bedrooms with 3400 sq. feet.
