  • yuck.  While it doesn't matter, it makes me wonder if the baby was planned or not.

dealing with pregnancy and stress and the unknown, etc. is hard and I would never have been able to do it if my partner weren't completely 100% on board.

  • Seriously! It's just so weird. I'd like to say that 99% of the responders in that thread are totally overreacting, but WTF?

  • yes, the outcries of "DIVORCE HIM!" are ridiculous.  If he came at you with a sharpened hanger, okay.  If he has reservations/stress and needs to talk, get a grip.
    image
  • I don't know about the overreacting part.  The fact that she considers "let's kill it" to be an "abrasive" comment just sort of bottles my mind.

Okay fine, you're stressed.  I would get something like, "I'm freaking out," "maybe we should reconsider," "I don't know if I can do this."  But "let's kill it"?!?!

    Yikes.

  • Holy eff, I found this post on TIP from the OP before she got pregnant:

i have posted a few time about my relationship which is very rocky. i've taken advice of posters and we are now in counseling. however, i think the counseling has been things worse between us. a lot of things were said that can not be taken back. because of this, i think we no longer feel the need to support each other during hard times. for instance, i found out today that i did not pass the bar exam. my husband supported me and was comforting for about 2 hours. and then he says.."maybe as punishment you can give me blow jobs for a month." umm, what? i am convinced that we are going to get divorced because i do not like to give him blow jobs. yes, it is the truth. i can not remember the last time i gave him a blow job. so i said..."wow nothing would depress me more." well, it went all down hill from there. i guess what i am trying to say is that our conversations have been like this for the past year. we start off well, but someone says something (usually my husband) that is so ridiculously unnecessary that we fight for the rest of the evening. i'm so tired of not feeling like i have a partner. and i am not saying its all his fault. it takes two. i'm just so tired. and i can not find the strength to leave. the only complaint i have is that we have grown apart. i do not like his personality, his views, his beliefs. what did not bother me 12 years ago (childlike behavior and gaming) bothers me now. i don't know...maybe i will not be happy in a relationship until i happy with myself.

  • Oh, that is a great family to bring a child up in.  Maybe she should follow her husband's suggestion, and then follow it up with a divorce.  Bad decisions and red flags ignored.

  • holy over-reaction, batman.

that is pretty gross of him to say, and I would say he probably needs some sort of therapy..

i'm not proud of it, but when I found out i was KU, my first reaction was "OMFG. what have we done? let's go horse-back riding! " did it mean I am a serial killer or something? it meant i was skeeered shitless and overwhelmed with this teeny tiny little clump of cells that was going to change my life FOR-EV-EVER

  • Because just like marriages fix broken relationships, babies fix broken marriages!
  • I realize the baby was an oops, but when your marriage is having that huge of issues, I just don't see how hard it could be to avoid getting knocked up.  But even more, WHY IS SHE BUYING A HOUSE WITH THIS GUY?  She needs a divorce and to decide whether she wants to be a single mom, abort, or adopt right now.

  • Dude, WTF.  I agree that a lot of the responses were over the top, but still..who says that?  Clearly she married a toddler who doesn't know how to properly use his words to express his feelings.  But, it's not like the writing wasn't on the wall before they accidentally got pregnant.

Baby or not, I'd be so outta there.  Not because I'm afraid of him, but because I'm not a masochist and I wouldn't want to spend my life unhappy with a giant turd.

  • "Let's kill it" is a pretty disturbing statement. I get the trepidation, I do. Like pink, I was scared shitless. So was K, although he tried to hide it. But wow.

I would also like to thank Bob, as well as the board as a whole for bringing these nuggets into my life. It is kind of sad that I consider myself lucky for marrying a respectful human. It really should be common.

    Word.

Through these links, I have learned that, even if I have a crap day at work, at least I can rest well and know that my life is pretty f*cking spectacular in comparison to some of these people.

  • I cannot stop looking at this person's posts.  Pretty much every single one recounts a story of how crappy her H treats her.  My favorite one so far is that her H came into a bunch of money but won't tell her where it came from.  That's not shady at all!  There were links in that post to other posts that have been deleted that sounded like they were full of good drama.  Deleting ruins everything.

  • I think him saying "Let's kill it" creeps me out WAY more than if he had said, "Can we consider abortion?"  The word "KILL" makes me feel like he thinks they would take the situation into their own hands and do something drastic/stupid.  That's probably not the case but his use of the word KILL makes my thoughts go dark.  :-(

I think the word "kill" is what's getting to me. My brother's ex made similar insecure comments and "jokes" when she first got pregnant. Then she escalated and started threatening to throw their child out the window as soon as my brother left her alone with her. Then she tried to kill my brother. But you know. That experience may have given me a biased opinion about this lady's husband.

And yeah, stories from here make me grateful that my ILs and my husband are not insane.

So the OP's dodging of the question "was your husband also molested" combined with "DH is willing to go with me but not with his mom unless FIL goes too" seems to indicate he was definitely molested, too, or at least shown inappropriate "affection."  Ugh, can you imagine, your MOTHER IN LAW???   I feel like there are many potential attackers you could just cut out of your life, but it would be near impossible to cut out someone's mom.  And it really seems like she has no clue that anything she's done is wrong.  I'm fascinated by this, because I want to know how someone gets into the frame of mind that they kiss baby penises OPENLY in front of the mother.
