My hair needed a trim just to take the split ends off. My friend who is a hairdresser taught me how to trim my hair and gave me a pair of her old scissors. She said they cut fine but she did not like the grip for cutting all day everyday. So last night i gave my hair a trim to get the split ends off. I told my mom this today and she was appalled. She said you can afford to go get your hair trimmed professionally. I honestly did not see anything wrong with it. Its not like I cut layers into my hair I just trimmed the ends.
Who let the dawgs out?

Re: Am I cheap??
i don't see anything wrong with that! I have to get layers cut in mine b/c it's curly, but I HATE dropping $50 to have it cut every two months. I'm going on about 10 weeks now. I'm trying to last as long as I can! haha
and i recently caught myself saving tinfoil and ziplock bags to reuse. I'm getting freaking depression era cheap. ha
no. I don't think that's cheap at all. I wish I knew how to trim my hair. I cut Luke's hair b/c the hairdressers I've taken him to can't do it as good as I can since I can get him to sit still and they can't.
Lauren: I also reuse ziplocks...when you have kids you use so many!
lauren- i save my ziploc bags also.
well in college i have been known to cut layers in my hair and i even highlighted my hair myself. and i have gotten my compliments on it so it must not look too jacked up. in college alot of girls use to come to me to trim their hair up or color it or something. i think i should have gone to beauty school. i would never touch my hair to really cut my hair and get a new style but i dont see anything wrong with a trim.
well there you go. i'd say you're professional! tell your mom you're saving up so you can afford to help her out when she's old
Not cheap at all, especially if you know what you're doing!
I wish I could do the same to mine, although if I could get the scissors, Im sure my sister could do it for me. I only get my hair done 3-4 times a year. I have been getting highlights everytime I go and just a trim...I have been trying to figure out a box haircolor that gives dimension so I dont have to pay my stylist anymore to do that.
