Stupid scammers

I have an elliptical that I posted for sale on Craig's List. I've gotten three emails about it, and all three of them were scammers. They all had some crazy story about why they wanted it. One was this guy who had this story about how he's an executive and he lives in London but will be moving to India soon so if I send him my info he'll wire me money and the movers will come pick it up.

Right. Do people seriously fall for this $hit? They must if these scammers are still doing it. Are people really that stupid?

It's getting really irritating that I keep getting these scam emails. I almost want to take my post down and just list it in the newspaper or something.

Re: Stupid scammers

  • I feel the exact same way! I hate Craig's List for this reason. No

  • I've had that happen before.  So annoying!  Maybe you could report them to CL.

  • Just don't reply to the e-mails!  A lot of these scammers are just trying to get your e-mail address!

The crappy part is that the first email they send is short and just asks for more information. Once I reply then they send me their whole bag of crap...so then they have my email.

Oh lame!!!!  Be careful if you get any e -mails in the future telling you your Craigslist account has been frozen or someone tried to access your e-mail and you need to click somewhere to confirm who you are.  Send those straight to scam reporting!

  • Create an extra email account that you use just for websites, etc.  It helps you not get all kinds of crappy spam to your "real" email.
  • I still get at least 5 spam emails a week from listing wedding crap on CL. :(
