sex and anxiety meds

anyone have experience with low libido while on anxiety meds? BF had been taking them for a while. it has majorly decreased his desire. I'm getting so frustrated! When we do its pretty much just getting it and go. I'm still left frustrated. He says his meds make him very apathetic about evey thing.

Re: sex and anxiety meds

  • I was on sertraline for a while. initially had some issues reaching orgasm, but i just adjusted the time i took the medication. problem solved.

My husband started lexapro about a month ago had he has had no problems with it. I don't know which medication your husband is on but perhaps it worth check out another one.

    Hope things improve :)

  • I take Lexapro and it has GREATLY affected my libido. I am not sad/angry anymore but I am also not excited/horny/overly happy EVER.  It is very hard for me to get aroused and stay that way so sex always seems like a chore to me so I understand how he feels.  I will be hoping that it gets better for both of us!! :)

  • I am on Lex and it has never affected me. I am still very horny most of the time.Wink
  • I am on Lexapro and is affected me greatly, it sucks. But it has really helped me over all- unfortunately I have to force myself to have sex sometimes but once I get into it, it is great. Maybe the more he does it the more he will want it :)
  • I was on sertraline for almost a year, and I never wanted sex, then tried lexapro for a month to see if anything improved. It didn't. Both were great for improving my depression and anxiety though.

Now I'm on bupropion, and its amazing. Helps with anxiety and depression AND doesn't lower my libido. Maybe he could bring that up to his doctor and see what he thinks.
