Job searching...

So I've found myself job searching.  I'm not feeling confident that the alternative job at my current place of employment is going to pan out (and I'm afraid it's going to be an awkward change) so I've been looking for other job options.

In the process of searching the last few days I realize that I have never really had to look for a job.  My first admin job just worked out of a volunteer position.  My current job was a change within the same company.  All my other jobs have come from referrals or walking into a restaurant and filling out an application.  That is such a blessing.  But I've also realized how daunting this kind of a change is!

I applaud those of you who have been job searching or who have been supporting your husbands as they search!

Re: Job searching...

  • Thanks for the applause - my DH has been looking for years.  Yep, years.  He has a job now, which we are VERY thankful for, but his hours have been cut and it's not a great wage anyway.

He's been getting more interviews lately, but at this point, there are always so many applicants, it's kind of a long shot.  He saw a position open (he didn't end up applying for it) but later he found out there were 270 applicants for 1 position.  Yeah.

  • I applied for 2 jobs yesterday....I was exhausted afterwards.  Job searching sucks....really sucks.
  • Why are you switching?
  • Because I'm bored to death and tired of all the drama/bullsh!t/doing others jobs all the time.....

I'm soooo glad to be done looking! Hubby should have 3 offers early next week (he's already countered one offer and the other two just didn't get done in time on Friday), but he and I both complained about how arduous the process is. All the online BS, first, second and third interviews, if you're even lucky to get one, and then all the HR crap after that! I hope you find something soon Millie so we can both look back on all this and laugh.. or give it the middle finger.  :)
