I need a new book to read
I just finished The Da Vinci Code, GREAT book. I ordered Jodi Picoult's new book- House Rules but it's not here yet 
Any recommendations?? What are you reading?

I'm reading book 5 in the Sookie Stackhouse series.... if you like True Blood, definitely check out the books!!
I've read all of the Sookie Stackhouse books and I love all of them! Another good book is Water For Elephants.
LOL, I read the subject of this thread and was coming in here all prepared to tell you to read anything by Jodi Picault - but then I saw that you already are. Her books are awesome!
I'm ashamed to say that I haven't read any "grown up" books lately. Mostly everything that I read is for the 5-12 age group. I may have to pick up the series that True Blood is based on though, everyone I know seems to be recommending that one. I have over $100 in gift cards for Chapters/Indigo that I got as grading day presents from my class, so I can go in with some ammo
I just finished Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides-- it was fabulous!
Right now I'm reading Little Bee by Chris Cleave-- I'm only about 50 pages in, but so far it's really good!
Also, you should try Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro-- it's being made into a movie soon, and reading the book first is always a good idea!
I'm reading Laurie Notaro's "There's a Slight Chance I'm going to Hell" -- great summer read. Funny and super smart. I find myself actually laughing out loud while reading her books. Which gets me some strange looks, especially when I'm reading in public.
I'm reading #8 in the Sookie Stackhouse series, and I agree that they're fabulous.
I just finished The Virgin Suicides. It was good, in a trippy, messed-up, depressing way.
Somebody on the book club board just recommended Going in Circles by Pamela Ribon (it's about women's roller derby). I really want to read it, now.
I also recently read Rebecca, by Daphne duMaurier, and I absolutely loved it.
My poor HH is getting to look at a lot of book covers this summer. He was telling me last night (as I finished up The Virgin Suicides) that he loves to watch me read because my eyes go back and forth like a typewriter carrier.
I'm reading The Heretic's Daughter. It's not really light and fun, but it's ok so far. Jen Lancaster's memoirs are fun, as are the books by Christopher Moore.
I'd suggest going over to the Book Club board - they have a lot of great suggestions.
That's from the same author as Middlesex- I love him!
You can also try anything by Jhumpa Lahiri, her novels and short stories are beautifully written- mostly dealing with the interactions between old and new world cultures.

I love girly books too. I read while I workout, so lighthearted works best. I just finished Heart of the Matter and loved it.

OH MY GAH!!! One of my all time FAVORITE books! And I've never known anyone else who's ever read it! I read it for the first time when I was only 13 or 14 maybe. Pretty messed up book for a kid that age but I fell in LOVE with it! And I've read it ever other year or so since!
In the past 5 or 6 years though I've become a big non-fiction reader! I can't tell you the last time I picked up a novel or fictional story (aside from the one above ) There's just something about a memoir that I get SO into. Just finished Tori Spelling's latest (super easy summer reads) but some of my faves are:
Devil in the Details - Jennifer Traig
Beautiful Boy - David Sheff
Tweak - Nic Sheff (the son's side of the story)
And last but certainly NOT least
My Booky Wook - Russell Brand (love him.)
I'm about to start a new memoir titled Life's That Way by Jim Beaver... looks to be a good one!

And I just started reading Knitting Under the Influence by Carol Lazebnik - stumbled on it in Reader Library for my Sony Reader...it's pretty good so far.

I think I read this book when I was about 15 or 16. It's #1 on my list since I think this was the first novel I enjoyed and it actually got me into reading more. I go through phases of reading lots of books and then none. I finally picked up I Know This Much is True. I started it on our honeymoon, but haven't had much a chance to pick it up since (I also prefer to read before I sleep). I read The Hour I First Believed soon after it came out. It was good, but not one of the best books I've read recently. I'll have to reread SCU and see if it is still as good as I remember.
