Hi Everyone... new here...

Hi Everyone,

I am new here to the boards.  My husband and I were married a couple of years ago and I found The Knot boards to be so helpful.  Now two years later, I have decided that it is time for me to join in on The Nest :)

We are in our late twenties and live north of Boston (Merrimack Valley area).  No kids yet but hopefully sometime soon :)

We moved here a couple of years ago but I have found it to be difficult as most of my friends still live closer to the Boston area.  I would love to connect with others in and around the area. Does anyone know of any book clubs or anything like that?  I know that Boston has tons of stuff like that but any recommendations in this area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!  I am really looking forward to connecting with everyone :)

Re: Hi Everyone... new here...

  • Hi and welcome! I'm also north of Boston but I don't know much about any groups or anything..
  • Hi Jess! I am pretty new on here too! Not married yet, but getting married next year, although we do live together! I also live north of Boston (in Andover). I don't know any book clubs but would like to find one also! I've been looking, so if I find one I will let you know! =) I've had a hard time finding much to do around here that doesn't involve kids. We, like you, don't have kids yet but hope it won't be long after we are married! I'm 23, but a lot more "older" than my friends that I have grown up with around here. It's tough to find "grown-up" activities between my job and my fiance not being from around here! It's definitely hard to meet people! =)

  • Welcome to the board, jess and jmob!  I don't know your area so I'm sorry I don't have recs for you.  Maybe there's a Meetup group or somethin you could look into?
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Welcome! I'm sort of in that area as well. I don't know of any book clubs, but have you checked out your local library? They might have some info on book clubs (and other community activities).

  • I just wanted to say hi and welcome to the board!
  • Thank you all for the warm welcome!  It is definitely tough meeting people around here when you are in the in-between stage of college and having kids.  My husband went to college and grew up around the area so he has lots of college buddies. I love them all but I would love to make more of my own local friends too :)

Jeannie - We live in Tewksbury (right next to Andover) :)  As you probably know it's not exactly buzzing with young people haha!  It's a give and take because we love our condo etc. but it is tough when most of my friends live in the city. I would love to get a group together who would be interested in meeting up at some point.

Thanks again, everyone!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

  • We live in Chelmsford, so not too far from you.  It definitely can be harder meeting young people out in the suburbs!  get togethers are a great way to meet people from this board!

    Welcome!

I live in the area too- and don't know of any groups. I've checked out meetup.com but never actually followed through with anything. It's definitely hard to meet people post college though!

  • Welcome!
