Ok, so I'm finally getting around to starting my thank you notes today. I have LOTS of questions, so I apologize.
These are supposed to be more informal, right? Do I address people by their first names on the actual notes, or should I say Mr. & Mrs. so and so? What about for a supervisor at work... I've never met his wife, but should I still use their first names on the note?
Mr and Mrs so and so on the envelope and then Tom and Susie on the note?
What about for people I've never met, like some of my parents' friends? I should NOT use first names for them, right?
Gifts from people with kids... do I address the note to the kids, too?
Re: Thank you note questions
I made mine super informal. My wedding wasn't a huge formal event though either. 60 ppl partying in Vegas usually leads to a relaxed vibe
In the card I wrote everyone's first name including kids or whatever they put on their card. I had some gifts from H's parent's friends that I have never met. I wrote their names just as they did in their card, so if they wrote kids' names so did I.
On the envelope I think I wrote Mr. and Mrs whoever bc it takes less space
This. I don't think it matters anyway - as long as people get a thank you card from you, they will be happy!
I just approved my thank you cards tonight so hopefully they come soon so I can get on the ball!
I think first names are ok, like pp's said, it make it more personal.
mine were also informal. If I felt more comfortable calling them mr. and mrs., then that's what I did. However, if they signed their card to me with their first name, I used first names.
I wouldn't stress about the little things for thank you notes. they are typically pretty casual
