Need help finding balance between condoms and lubricants
My girlfriend just recently got off the birth control pill due to health reasons. Before she got off the pill we would have sex without condoms. Now that she is off, we have been trying to make due with condoms but we always run into problems.
She gets irritated from the lube on the condoms and latex.
I get uncomfortable because the lube on the inside dries up and rubs.
Going back on the birth control pill is not an option.
ANY suggestions would be realy helpful! We are trying to find other alternatives or other brands of lubricants and find a good condom brand.
Re: Need help finding balance between condoms and lubricants
One thing to try - and she has to totally be onboard with this - would be contraceptive sponges.
It does contain nonoxynol 9, the spermicide that is used in condoms, but I find the usage of it in the sponge is much less irritating than on condom.
My H can't tell the sponge is in unless the string is in spot that rubs against the head of his penis. (And, then we'll stop and I'll adjust it at that point.)
One thing that is much nicer than condoms is the fact that you can insert it before sex, so it is more spontaneous. Getting it inserted and positioned correctly is no more difficult than using a tampon. (Obviously this is why I say that your GF has to be onboard with using this, b/c it's something that she is going to be taking responsibility for using.)

I had a similar problem with BC and DH hates condoms with a passion(I'm not too fond of them either) so we found a product called Ortho Options Conceptrol. You can get it at any big store like Target or at places like Walgreens. We originally got it for our honeymoon and it was great. It takes a small bit of work, she will have to insert it before you have sex each time but it is no more difficult then putting a tampon in, the applicator is shaped and generally works the same.
Definitely check it out. Not only will you solve the latex and lube problem but sex is so much nicer without condoms:)
