DIY Nesties: Safe Paints

Anyone here used food paint or other "safe" or "green" paints? We're looking for something where if LO chews on something painted with it, it wouldn't do much harm. I looked up some online but would like to see if anyone here has any personal experience with any of these kinds of paints. Thanks!!

Re: DIY Nesties: Safe Paints

  • I am not sure about food paints or paint for something a LO might put in their mouth, but when we just painted our house, I got everything in non or low VOC paints from Sherwin Williams (their harmony line).  I was really happy with the paint...it looks great & I never had a strong paint smell.  But the guy at SW told me the base paint is nonVOC, but when you add color, you add toxins.  I am sure with food paint or (hopefully) paint targeted to kids, they have toxin-free tinted paints.  Did you check an art supply store?  or even maybe a kitchen supply store?

    Hope this helps!!
