Beginning of the week stuff

1. I am dragging a$$ today because I am slow with work so other people have asked me to help them out on tedious projects.  Blech.

2. Weekend was good.  Got to meet Mod.  Hung out with my brother and his fam.  My husband laughs every time we part ways from my family because we never hug or get overly emotional when we know we won't see each other for a long time.  My H always wants to give my brother a big animated hug at these awkward goodbyes.  I encourage him to do so, but he never does.

3. Where is Shamwow these days?  I see the occasional post, but she doesn't seem to stick around.  Hey Sham, aren't you a lady of leisure these days?  That means your new job is to be here all day bringing us entertainment.  :)

Re: Beginning of the week stuff

  • My weekend was awesome. MIL & FIL took N up north to visit family and attend a party. I was kid free for 3 days. I almost feel guilty for how much I enjoyed it.

Friday night, PT & I went out to a grown up dinner & out for drinks. Came home, and sat out on the patio until 3am, just talking and drinking wine. It's been so long since we had a night like that--- just the two of us. It was great.

Saturday, i went shopping, got a pedi, and sat outside reading and working on my tan. Then we went to a party/BBQ..

Sunday, we got up early and went out to brunch. Came back home and packed for our trip to the OBX (we leave friday! WHOOT!) and just puttered around the house.

  • I'm dragging right along with you.  5 days sounds like a lot to work after last week.

I sewed my largest project ever this weekend and now I'm convinced I can reupholster a chair I bought for $3.  This is getting dangerous.  And we sold  our old phones for lots of monies but the Brett's computer broke so I'm sure we'll be shelling it right back out.

Shamwow has some family stuff that's keeping her away for a little while.  She'll be back soon I'm sure.

  • I'm pretty bitter this morning -- I've spent a couple of hours getting crap ready for a divorce mediation that is this Thursday, and the other side's lawyer is now all "I don't think we're ready to mediate."  We have exchanged SIX BINDERS full of discovery.  WTF could you possibly still need?  Grrr.

This weekend was fun, though.  We had friends from Ohio in town, and we took them to a bunch of fun touristy places.  I need a weekend now to recover from the late nights, though.  Being out until 1 am two nights in a row when I'm used to going to bed at 9:30 was rough.
  • I am dragging ass this morning too. I just generally suck at waking up and have been tired all the time lately.

Weekend was good, busy with house stuff. Finished touching up the paint in the office and guest room, stained the shelves for our office. Bought a mattress and bedding for the guest room - which has turned out to be a total pain in the arse since I have the clear idea in my mind of what I want the room to look like :)

  • it sucks being back at work especially since it looks like nobody did jack while I was gone and now I have a pile of jobs and I really don't feel like doing any of them.

over the weekend I got the proofs back for my son's senior pictures (yes they do them this early) and I really like them but damn they're expensive.  The cheapest package is $200 and you can only choose one pose, if you don't want to go the package route, each 8x10 is $56.

  • I spent most of Sunday morning at L&D. It was supposed to just be a non-stress test (they didn't want me to wait till Monday, and L&D is the only place you can do them on weekends), and the residents had trouble finding enough fluid. Then they were going to admit me for observation, then they were going to admit me and induce. Then the attending came and did a 7th ultrasound (seriously - 7 ultrasounds - three by each resident and one by the attending) and decided that my fluid was probably okay enough for them to let me go home. I was happy to be able to go home at first, and now I'm just super anxious. What if my levels drop or something happens and I don't catch it and make it to the hospital in time? I wish they'd just admitted me for observation so I could stop worrying. And now I feel like I need to get a bunch of emails to people pre-written in case they decide to keep me after tomorrow's NST, but my mind isn't on work. =/

The rest of my weekend was pretty uneventful. I bought some yarn, some fabric for a blanket for Evie, did some PenguinBot stuff, did a lot of knitting. I've been on a big knitting kick. Will was kind of a pill yesterday. He didn't sleep well on Saturday (and really, really wanted Lorne to sleep in his bed with him, which was so unusual and something he's never asked for before) and was just a grouch the whole day. I gave him the mouse he asked me to make for him, which cheered him up for about an hour. Then he dipped it in salsa.

  • I enjoyed my weekend.  Friday we BBQed for dinner and finally watched Up In The Air.  Saturday we gave the house a much-needed cleaning before my parents got to town.  Then we had fun with them and went out for a huge and wonderful dinner of Italian food.

I also got some maternity jeans, and they are so comfortable that I wanted to celebrate them Michael Scott style (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfJFaP2hr6A) .

Yesterday we spent the morning with my parents, then they went back to their hotel and MrTummy went to a friend's place to watch soccer, and I basked in the peace and quiet.

I am coping with Monday morning fairly well because we are taking Friday off for a long weekend in New Orleans with my ILs.

You know who else will be in New Orleans this weekend?

Me, Buddha, Winged, and Aliza.  Just saying.

  • Sorry to hear about your rough weekend Noisy.  However, I am glad to hear that Andy wasn't the only grouch yesterday.  He tried to give his monkey a bath in a fountain at the restaurant we went to last night.  When my husand stopped him, he screamed so loud it sounded like he was being tortured.  Sorry restaurant patrons.

Good luck with your tests (and getting through work as painlessly as possible).

No. No. I'm coming. I was just excited about the prospect of adding more people.

I am dedicated to our cause. My inlaws randomly decided to come in town this weekend, and I'm hanging with them all day Friday because I was not breaking my date with y'all.

  • bring a Fern wig for HT so she can do her schtick for you!

Noisy, I'm so sorry you had a rough weekend with fetuspants!  It would make me anxious too.  Suck down gallons of water for another week to get to FT and let them induce you, maybe?  Did they give you any steroid shots jic?

  • I'm a little sore from gardening on Saturday, but it was a great success.  We cleared out a whole bunch of crap and it made a huge difference.  Things were so overgrown in our garden that you couldn't walk through it before, and now you can.  I managed to escape being eaten alive by mosquitoes, but I do have a number of battle wounds.  The mosquitoes are out of control here this year.  You can tell where all the bug spray and anti-itch lotions are in every store based on where there is a big empty shelf.

  • I'm a little drained this morning after thinking I was in kidney failure for most of it. Really want my doctor to call back, but I also have nowhere to get privacy (share an office with 2 other people) when she does, so I may have to be That Person.

Other than that, excellent weekend. My team won the world cup, i got to see my favorite player play (see siggy pic), and I got a kick-ass new vacuum.

  • Calie, I've heard really good things about the OFF Clip on bug repellant thingy.  Try it and tell me how it works. : )

Believe me, I've been trying to buy one for a while now.  They're out at every store.  I'd have more luck getting you to buy me one and ship it than to snag one here.  All the insect repellent in a 50 mile radius has been snatched up.  The guy at the store said they filled the shelves that morning and were sold out a couple hours later.  We went back the next morning to pick up some from their new shipment and it was already gone.

  • I'll trade you some mosquito repellent for some allergy medication.

  • Today I'm feeling fine, but my only real indicator of what's going on with the baby (when they don't have me on monitors and stuff) is kick counts. And obviously the baby doesn't kick 24/7, so now every time I feel like she hasn't moved in awhile I get nervous. And I know I'm overreacting, and that they're pretty cautious with pregnant women and that if I was in real danger yesterday they would have just kept me. I go in again tomorrow and then again on Thursday, so in all liklihood they'll definitely catch me in time if I drop too low. But I'm still anxious, you know?

    image

  • Totally 100% understandable. It must be so hard to have things like that taken out of your control. I hope Evie keeps the water in the bathtub awhile longer.

When I was having contractions every two minutes for a week, they did an NST on me, and he was asleep or something because he didn't move for a solid half hour even though they were zapping him with some crazy sonic vibration thing. They had me good and freaked out before he finally woke up. I think some times in their quest to make sure everything is okay, they actually freak you out a lot more than necessary.

It's hard to be sane towards the end. Good luck.

  • Aw Noisy, it sucks that you're going through this. The non-stress test is such a misnomer, the one we had the day Owen was born was SO stressful. Blerg. I hope your fluids stay good and she can come when she's ready.
    image Ready to rumble.
  • Oh blah, Noisy.  That's got to be really hard.  I like your line of thinking though.  They would have kept you if they were worried, so I'm sure everything will be totally fine.

    That sounds fair.

Hang in there, Noisy.  And don't feel bad about getting freaked -- it'd be weirder if you were totally calm and nonchalant about the whole thing.  Think fluid-y thoughts!
