hi everyone - newbie intro

Hi,ladies!  I have posted a few times, but figured it was time to actually introduce myself.  I wish I would have found all of you earlier, but better now than never, right?

I live just outside Seattle with my DH and one kitty.  No kids for us.  I love other people's kids, just have never had the desire to have any of my own.

We are in the process of updating our home, but I sometimes wonder why we thought we could do it all ourselves.  So far we have painted most of the walls (no white for me, please!), done a mini redo of our main bath, changed out a ton of the light fixtures, put in new flooring in our hallway and are almost finished with a kitchen update (new base cabinet, new or refaced upper cabinets, new appliances, counters & backsplash).

In response to a couple of Mamie's questions from a post below, I love it here!  I can pretty much drive an hour or less in any direction and hit beach, mountains, city and/or country.  I love my convertible and can't imagine ever having to drive a hard-top, which makes my half hour plus commute much more bearable.

I will try to figure out how to post a few pics later, as it's time for me to go to lunch now!

Re: hi everyone - newbie intro

  • Welcome!  I, too, hope to have all of our walls painted soon.  Are you from Seattle originally?  I'm down in LA and always glad to have another west-coaster on this board.
  • HI!

I'll be looking for pics later!

  • Thanks!  I grew up in Olympia (about an hour south of Seattle), but have lived in the area most of my life (spent three years in NC).

  • Hi Darby!

LOVE Washington State... I'm an east coaster but my sister lives out in WA about an hour from Seattle with my niece and nephew.  I went out the for the first time back in February and I absolutely loved it - you're right about everything being so close!

    Welcome!

  • Megs - I've never been to NY (upstate or anywhere) but I hear it's beautiful!  Hopefully a fall trip to see the leaves & visit NYC will happen one of these years.
  • Hi Darby! Welcome :)

  • Oh that's awesome.  My BF from high school went to Evergreen, so I am familiar with the Olympia reputation.
  • cdobs -  That's so cool!  Where do they live (if you don't mind sharing)?

Lark - Evergreen sure does give Olympia a different reputation.  It's such a unique school!  The students bring a lot of character to the town--help to equal out the rigid government types and make for a really cool & diverse place to grow up.  Did you ever visit?

  • Welcome!  Thanks for sharing the pictures!

They live in Centralia-  my sis is a doctor out there.   Are you close to there?

  • I'm about an 1 1/2 hours north of Centralia.  My parents live near there, though (about 20 minutes away).  They moved out to the country after my sister and I were both out of the house.  I really like Centralia.  It's cute & very safe, plus they are about half way between Seattle & Portland, OR (oh...and they have the outlet malls, too!).
