I just realized I'm that co-irker today. I brought salmon with my salad...I just opened up my salad and it smells fishey. I hope if I eat it quickly the smell will go away and not bother people.
Re: Randoms
I've been the co-irker with the fish lunch before. I always feel guilty about it, and yet it doesn't really stop me.
I think coworkers and volunteer contacts would be good references.
I don't have fish, but I have heated up a strongly garlic or oniony meal on occassion and also feel self-concious.
I also agree with Kasa - any professional contacts would be good - if you kept in touch with any professors from college that would be good too.
I went shopping yesterday and found some mad deals on summer clearance items. For instance, at Gap I paid $5.99 plus tax and left with two shirts.
In total, I spent $91 and bought ten items (9 clothing items and a hat). I thought that was awesome.
Way to go! I love bargain/clearance shopping.
I was thinking about all the stuff I needed to get done at home today before I left for work too. I think it's because I ended up being busier this weekend than I thought so I didn't get as many chores done as usual.
We went to my neice's 1st birthday party this weekend. :-) She was not a fan of the side cake they had for her to smash for whatever reason though. We wanted the classic messy face but she didn't want to get messy.
Uggh, you just reminded me that I should clean my bathroom.
Awesome! I hadn't maybe one or two clothing items since Spring (when I bought winter stuff on clearance) and just last week started getting some summer stuff on clearance. Nothing feels better than a good deal. :-)
I took the girls to my sister's house last night since she has a pool. I wanted to test out the swimmies (arm floats) on Allison to see if she would let me go. At first she wasn't to sure about it. Then I sat her on the step of the ladder and she jumped right in and swam around. It is a smaller pool, but she could get a lap around before she would get tired. I was so proud of her and happy. This will make it easier on us and more fun for when we go on vacation.
I wonder how Amelia would react?
Neat! Sounds like Allison likes the water.
I have wondered about this. Why exactly do people go out of their way (even buying extra cakes?!) to have a baby smear food on its face on its first birthday? Why is that desirable? Don't babies smear food on their faces pretty much like every day?
I have wondered this myself a time or two. But I've also already stated my thoughts (Unpopular Opinion Thursday!) on the subject of kids with food on their faces.
I think because it's the *thing* that a one year old is supposed to do? Almost like there's an expectation there? In this case, when they ordered a cake for the 1 year birthday - the side cake came for free, if that tells you anything about the expectation that a separate cake is needed.
I would liken it to other expectations people have for children to act that people generally find cute - saying the darndest things for example.
We made the girls a HUGE AZZ smash cake because we bought a cake pan shaped like a cupcake and could not get that stupid thing to cook evenly (luckily we did a few test runs). The top half was goey and the bottom half was overdone. So I figured we spent all that money, we were going to use that pan one way or another.
This was their smash cake. We had fun watching them dig into it.
I missed you all today!
I'm up in Traverse City for work today and tomorrow. It's cool because I'm training some new people in our location here, but I miss my routine (and my house and my kitty). At least it's just one night.
We had a crazy busy weekend that involved driving to Indy, from Indy to Chicago, and from Chicago to home. We came home super late on Saturday night and still managed to get in a couple of hours at Hoffmaster yesterday. The lake has finally warmed up and it is so nice!
For my son, it was the first time he had cake/sugary stuff. THe expression on his face was fantastic.
Not really sure why the tradition, but his cake came with one, so we went with it.
