We went to a wedding on Saturday for one of DH's friends and fellow lacrosse coach, and while it was a beautiful reception hall I had to share with you ladies the shadyness that the bride told us about.
So after dinner was served the woman in charge of the reception hall came up to the groom and was like "I added up your bill incorrectly, and you owe me $1500 more, I need it by the end of the night" Umm seriously? So the groom said I'm sorry, but I won't pay that, we had an agreed upon total on our contract that I paid up front, we booked this 9 months in advance, you should have done your math correctly before today.
The woman in charge wasn't happy about the money, so she stiffed them on their cake!! The bride and groom cut the cake and then they only brought out about 50 pieces of cake, didn't serve it, just put it all on a table and let people have at it. The bride's parents never even got any! How horrible is that? And they had a 4 tiered cake, there was plenty there for the 120 guests in attendance!!
I felt so bad for the bride, she was so pissed at this woman!
Re: Wedding this weekend
did they have a cake brought in or was it one that was provided there?
needless to say that is horrible! I could not imagine someone coming up to you on your wedding day and telling you had to pay this amount by the end of the night. especially since they booked the place 9 months ago and the lady had plenty of time to go over the contract. And the contract was signed for the previous price! that is beyond tacky!
Wow, thats ridiculous! We had a similar situation with our cake so we made a call to the owner of the reception and we got some money back bc of the way catering acted.
I agree with PP, report them to the BBB.
I think the woman in charge was the owner, but I'm not positive.
The reception hall made the cake, I wish I had a picture of it, cause it was a decent sized cake, no way they should have run out, the pieces were a normal size too, nothing large.
Oh my goodness, I can't imagine being told that on your wedding day. How unprofessional and tacky.
