For all the readers

Since we were just discussing books the other day I thought I'd put this out there. I like  to read and end up spending a lot on books that I read and don't know what to do with once I'm done.  I was just reading about a bookswap website (paperbackswap.com).  You just put your books up and people request them and you request what you want from other people.  I just requested my first book so I'm hoping it works out well. It would save me a ton of money and get some of the books out of my room that I'm done with.  I'm still surprised someone had the book I was looking for.  I've been reading books by Whitney Lyle, wedding fiction of course, and I'm anxious to read the next one!

  • I buy all of my books, but I could never part with them unless I super hate them. I have books everywhere and I like it that way. (really, they're the only things I collect. H collects antique cameras and DVDs and I collect books.?

^this. I have to buy my books, and I can never part with them. I love to just look at the books I have read. I would love to one day have a gigantic library filled with books. I am not a library or get rid of books type of person lol. They are like my trophys to show everybody how smart I am hehe.

  • I might have to try this - I used to work in the library when I was in high school and the feel of dirty pages grosses me out.  What I usually do is trade books with my friends, my Mom, etc and that works out great.
  • Yup I love to read too. That would be interesting to find out how it worked out. I buy most of my books but I am not too attached and most of the time after a few years I donate them. Let us know how it works out for you

Yes, this. I like having bookselves of books and I have to keep the books I read. I may let people borrow them, etc but they always return to my shelf. I buy my books cheaper, though, with coupons or at half.com or something.

  • I buy books.  If I checked out at the library, they would never get returned.  I have STACKS of "to-be-read" books that I see and just pick up.  I work my way through them, but every couple of books, I feel the need to return to a favorite :)  So my TBR pile continues to grow.  I'm ok with that.

If a book is "Eh...", I'll sell it to half-price books, but most I keep.

  • I also buy my books. I usually reread my books too. I enjoy it and there's usually something I missed or forgot about the first time. Especially if it's a series that I had to wait for the next one to come out. I do trade books with my sister though. Well she usually sends me whatever she's done with! When I went to visit I tried to share a series I'm reading with her but she already had it! Anyway the site still looks interesting. Do you return the book to the owner when you're done or do you put it back up for someone else?

Same.  How often do you re-read books?  Effing never.  My mom works at a library and she always knows what the best books are!

I used to be at the library all the time to get books / editions you can't readily find at stores (I have this thing about certain editions of certain books.  I just like them better), but now I usually buy my books.  Of course, then I don't read them ever, ha.

I actually reread lots of books. Guess I'm weird like that Smile But I read lots of new stuff too. I just love to read. Good thing H works at B&N and we get a discount :)

I've been using the library this summer though because I've been reading like crazy with having the summer off and I'm trying to save money Smile

Oh, and forgot to say, but me too!  I have books I started reading as a young teen / tween / child that I still reread every couple years.  Roald Dahl's books, for instance.
