Kimora surprised me

I watched a few minutes of her television program last night. Overall I find her grating and rude, and her fashion lines tacky, but I give her a virtual hi-five for talking about pumping while being a working mom.  She was doing a photo shoot and had to stop every hour to pump. They showed her (discreetly) pumping while having her hair and makeup done.

Of course, I don't have an assistant to handle my pump parts and whatnot, but still it's good to see the realities of being a breastfeeding mom on TV.

Re: Kimora surprised me

  • I would die if I had to pump every hour.
  • I was shocked at that part. I ump 2x a day, maybe 3 if I work late.

  • Kristen, did you have to pump as often as he eats in the beginning? I'm wondering when I go back to work in two weeks if I should be pumping a couple ounces every three hours to maintain my supply or just pump them dry when they get full.

  • I pump every three hours, which is his feeding schedule. However he usually only eats from one side and I pump both. Generally I get the most from the AM session (enough for two bottle feedings) and about half to three quarters of that from the second session. I also froze about 70 oz in advance of going back to work.

  • maybe she's having some supply issues and needs to pump every hour.  CM had some supply issues and pumped every 4 hours on the dot, even overnight.

  • Yeah, I have a good bit in the freezer now. I have to pump in the morning before I feed him because they're too full from going all night. I should have a good enough stockpile that I can just pump the next days bottles when I'm at work.

  • I heard that she was pumping every hour to increase supply as a calorie burn.
  • That's what I do. And just rotate in the frozen milk before it goes bad. I usually have enough left over to freeze 8 oz or so a week, if we don't go out one night or something.

Ahh, that's the Kimora I know and hate.

  • I pump 3 times a day at work (when he would normally nurse) and always get more in the first session.

  • I pumped twice a day at work (both sides), then once at night before bed to attempt to keep my supply and stash up. I got to the point where I enjoyed pumping at work because I had set times where everyone knew I would be away, and I'd hang out and read while I did it. It was good times.

I love my pump sessions.  It's like a smoke/coffee break, without the cancer or nasty breath.

I feed one side then pump the other in the morning, then it's twice during my work day and right before bed (both sides).

Except when mean girls would walk in on you.

  • Well yes. I hated our pumping facilities and the inability of people to a) not comprehend that when the sign on the door says "occupied" that yes, someone is indeed in there, and b) that it was sometimes used as a dressing room for stupid people.

  • I feed one side in the morning, pump both sides 3x a day at work, and then pump before I go to bed.  I can't wait to stop pumping.

  • Well even when Kimora is skinny she has neck wrinkles. So pump away, K Lee.

  • I had a security guard walk in on me last week. He asked what I was doing and started to walk toward the privacy screen. I yelled out "I'm ummmmm breastmilk! I'm pumping ummmmmm milk?"

He just said "oh" and walked out.

And a bizarrely fat face. It's like all of her weight goes to her head.  I never thought she was attractive even before I know she was a raging a-hole.
