Severe storms means I was due to leave Chas at 2 yesterday and arrive in Bos at 8. I left Chas at 6 and arrived in Boston at...10:30 a.m. this morning.
Then I got into a cab. The driver tacked on the $7.50. I asked what it was for, I had forgotten. He lost it on me. Cussed me out up and down. Stopped in the middle lane out of Logan to turn around and finish cussing me out. "Who the F**** do you think you are, questioning my motives, this is massport fees, YOU pay it, you better pay for it, you have no clue, no idea about anything, you obviously don't know, you f***ing pay for it, blah blah blah."
I said, "Okay, look, I forgot that is what they were, that's all you had to say was "massport fees. Stop yelling at me right now. You get me to Cambridge right now and stop yelling or I will call the cops."
He calmed down considerably at that point and gave me the silent treatment while I tried to find his license but it was on the dashboard and I couldn't see the damn thing.
Finally, at a light in Cambridge, he turned around and said, "I sorry. Look, here" and showed me the massport fee list. I said, "That is fine, I had forgotten, it has been over a month since my last visit. You should have shown me this when I first asked, you can't go around yelling at people like that. What if I were a tourist? I'm not, so I am fine, but someone else will call the cops on you."
He said, "Sorry sorry"
Seriously, what.an.azzhole.
Re: It took me 24 hours to get here and THEN
Holy crap, that's a crappy travel day! Were the severe storms here or in Chas (or in between)? We only had rain and a little thunder for about 10 minutes here in downtown Boston yesterday. And if you left Chas at 6pm yesterday, did you have to land somewhere in between before finally making it here?
And, dude, that cab driver was insane! He was probably pissed about a different passenger he had before you and took it out on you. Good for you for staying calm--you're a better woman than I!
ETA: Hope your marathon of meetings goes better than your travel!
Ditto. I envy people with patience; I have none.
I would have been like this
, then this
, then this
.
I was definitely like
I thought he may have had a hard time understanding me and misunderstood my tone. He was very hard to understand. Part of the last rant he did was jumbled to me because his accent got thicker and thicker the more he yelled.
So rude.
I have to fly through Atlanta. Atlanta had some awful storms yesterday! Then the Atl-Bos flight was all set to leave at midnight, but then the pilot said no probably because he'd been flying 18 hours at this point.
No direct flights? Ugh. So did you have to sleep in the airport?
No direct flights. and hell no did I sleep in the airport. I called our travel dept and they had me in a hotel within 20 minutes!
I would have considered sleeping in the airport if DH was with me (if he would hear of it).
Ugh, what a terrible time! I would have been silently weeping in the back of the cab if I was spoken to like that haha!
I'm glad you finally got in safe and I hope your trip home is 100% better.
I don't think it was patience, more just "Dude, you are effen crazy, stop screaming at me, you are a moron."
Totally inappropriate on his part!
If he had done that to a tourist, they might have asked him to turn around and take them back to Logan so they could go home! Not exactly the kind of impression we want visitors to have!
Planning Bio - Woefully out of date
That was part of my issue. WTH kind of impression would he have made on some poor old couple visiting New England for the first time?
