confession wednesday

Re: confession wednesday

  • i have a friend who i really do like.... she's sweet but she's pretty flaky. she told me today that they're "moving" to the conroe area. i'll believe it when it happens but honestly, i was kinda relieved cause she's kinda driving me crazy.
  • I'm suppose to be packing up the kitchen, but I'm watching Say Yes to the Dress.

That brings me to my confession.  I only tried on 3 wedding dresses and picked the first one I tried on.  I kinda feel like I missed out trying on more dresses.  Even ones I'd never buy.  Ha.  I really really want to go and try on more just for fun.  But I don't think I could get anyone to go....

  • Ever since I got the wedding band on my finger, it seems all I think about is popping out a kid. I have always wanted kids and thought I'd be having them by about this time in my life, but was perfectly happy with our plan to wait until the barrier of being unmarried was taken away. This is killer!

ETA: This is what prompted my post on the other board. I'm really sad that I'll be 27 before I have my first baby (if we have no problem getting pregnant). I'm not saying that is old for everybody, but it's older than I want to be and I'm mourning it right now.

  • I watched the whole 1 1/2 hr finale of the Hills last night and I am so sad it is over. I loved that show.
  • I really need to go for a run but I'm secretly happy it's pouring here so I can't

  • For the last 2 days I've let W watch way more TV than he should because I think it's too hot/humid to go outside.  I'm sure he thinks it's just fine outside.  Mommy not so much.

Did you notice that one of the girls said yes to a dress, but it wasn't actually the one that they showed her in on the wedding day?  I've seen that a few times now - I think its pretty funny!

  • I really should stay home and clean the house but instead, I am going tubing. I went tubing yesterday also. I did stop by DH's office yesterday and dropped off lunch. I do feel kinda bad that he has been working 18 hours a day lately and I am on the river. BUT my friend Kelly is in town and we look forward to her 2 weeks in town every summer.....Ok...I still feel guilty!
  • I am at a fascinating meeting, but instead of listening in on the discussion panels, I'm nesting and FBing.
  • We had a lake trip this weekend that was supposed to be an adult trip.  No talking about kids, all kids left behind.  I was the only gal there without children and not pregnant.  The ENTIRE and I mean ENTIRE weekend conversation from the time I got there on Friday afternoon to the time everyone left on Sunday was about babies, deliveries, etc.  I was totally out of place.  So I went and hung with the guys, but they were getting drunk, so yeah I had a crappy weekend.  So anyways my confession, I am so happy for my friends who are pregnant.  But seriously, the baby talk gets freaking old.  All day every day for 3 days.  Come on.  Flame away.  But for those of us who dont have kids, we dont relate, nor really care to hear about that, especially on a designated adults only weekend.

I could have written this.  I only tried on 5, and while I'm 99.9% sure I'd still pick my dress, trying on dresses was SO much fun!  I would love to try on dresses for fun sometime.  :)

This brings up another confession for me. My best friend is getting married next year and bought a dress without me. She just went to a store one day and happened to find one she liked, so she took her mom back later and bought it and told me after the fact. Its totally not about me and I'm just glad that she found a dress she loves, but I'm really sad that I didn't get to go shopping with her. I feel really selfish being upset about it and would never tell her, though.

So I'd love to go with you to try on dresses and ooh and ah at how pretty you look!

  • My confession - I've lately been thinking about how wonderful it would be to be a SAHW/M. For anyone who personally knows me, that is like, blasphemy.

I've worked really hard at my career and have met all of my "before the age of 30" career goals.. and am planning on going to school soon, etc etc. Its a real possibility that I could SAH, and flirting with the idea sounds way more relaxing than sitting on conference calls all day and playing politics at work.

Maybe I just need a break from THIS job. I have fun at work, but I miss being super duper into it.

  • I have a friend and classmate who I know is applying for all the same jobs that I am (we discussed it a couple weeks ago).  I interviewed for my dream job last week and desperately want to know if he got an interview there, too, but I don't think it's appropriate to ask him. :(
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • So, not to be Captain Bring Down (she who doth rain on many a parade and pee on the occasional birthday cake), but as someone who used to be a bridal consultant...people who come in to try on dresses for funsies aren't being very nice. The vast majority of stores don't allow you to try on dresses without the help of a consultant (for product safety, among other reasons) and if you have no intention of buying you're just going to be wasting her time, keeping her from other sales opportunities, and possibly getting her in trouble with her manager/company for not closing the sale. It happened to my coworkers and I more often than you would think, and it sucked every time.

Now, if you only want to try on one or two dresses per store and you go on a Monday-Thursday then that's not really a big deal at all. More than that, though, or on a weekend and it really sucks for the consultant.

Just my two cents, though. :)

  • on the flip side, I tried on probably 9432789437289423 dresses and fell in love with the one that was WAY out of my budget.  trying on anything after that dress just wasn't the same. ;(

This is why I haven't gone.  I know how sales jobs suck, and I don't want to put anyone through that.

However, I got my dress at David's Bridal and went in on a whim on a weekday with my mother, and happened to love the dress.  No one was there trying on dresses and the workers didn't even offer to help us.  So I think if I went to David's Bridal I'd get my fill of being a silly married woman trying on dresses.

I did the exact same thing.  Went to only one store and after trying on three dresses bought one off the rack.  I'll go with you when you move to Austin.

  • Today I've eaten:

    Strawberry milkshake
    Dried cranberries
    Several handfuls of red grapes
    Strawberrries
    Strawberry yogurt
    Pineapple
    Mango smoothie
    Orange juice

In the fridge from my HEB trip:
    Mangos
    Pre cut mangos
    Pre cut pineapple
    Cherries
    Grapes
    Strawberries
    Orange Juice

I think maybe I'm craving fruit Wink But I also think it's becoming a problem. Trying to get myself to eat anything of substance is like torture.

  • I'm feeling uber guilty about boarding the pups for two nights while DH an I are out of town. I could pay $150 to come home early but I can't justify the cost after spending $100 on a broadway show I didn't really want to see and didn't enjoy. So, to make myself feel better, I bought the dogs foie gras dog biscuits from Thomas Keller's Bouchon Bakery in NYC. Oh and I bought a bunch of pastries for myself. Also feel guilty bc I have 1-2 free days in the city bc of weird company travel policies.
