My dog just got attacked
I took him out and we are rounding the corner to the side street right near my house. I look up and see my neighbor's dog and a second dog that I have not seen before in my neighbor's yard. I think "wow I didn't know they had an electric fence." Both dogs come charging at mine growling and biting. and ferocious. I start screaming and trying to pull my dog into the yard on the opposite side of the street (this yard dumps into my yard) so I can get my dog away safe. Someone pulls over and attempts to help me, and then finally owners come out and get their dogs. My heart is still beating a million times a minute.

MrsC, you might want to delete the dog's name as I think camedown is trying to stay anonymous.
How scary for you both! Did the owner apologize at all? Do you think you should go talk to them to make sure it doesn't happen again? It would suck to be nervous about walking around your own neighborhood! How nice of that stranger to try to help you.
It was really nice for the stranger to help...and she was the one who made sure we were okay. I think the neighbors were embarrassed and anxious to get their dogs in because they sort of yelled sorry as they were dragging them off. I ended up checking him over and kept walking because I knew he really wanted the walk and didn't want to make him go home. I was just so freaked out. I ended up stopping at another neighbor's house who also has a dog and telling him what happened. He has been in the neighborhood for years and knows all the dogs. He said he was pretty sure they only had the one dog...and that I should go back and talk to them because I need to make sure they have all their shots, and let them know that we walk the same route a couple of times a day so if this happens again it will be a problem.
So I put my dog in the house and went over there. They have a visitor staying with them which is why they had a second dog. The dogs crashed through their chicken wire fence in the yard. They apologized again and said both dogs are up to date on shots, and that it won't happen again. It was just so scary. Two against one...I have no idea if I did the right thing either....trying to drag my dog away while the two were attacking? I am hoping Punky can offer some advice on that. I just wanted to get him safe.
Yeah I don't think I could have just let him fend for himself. When I was talking to my neighbor he said something about how dragging your dog away makes him weaker and the dogs will pick up on that.....but I don't know. I was so scared at the time all I could think was to try to get him away.

I would have been pissed! I cannot stand it when people leave their dogs out, unsupervised, without a PHYSICAL fence. It freaks me out so bad when I am walking and I see off leash dogs.
I always turn around and walk the opposite direction. I had one dog come after us regardless, when we were in a local park in Boston, and I threw the dog's bag of poop at it to get it to go away.
Freaks me out and ticks me off when people let their dogs roam around- and ones who aren't sociable with other dogs is even WORSE. wtf?! Every time a dog comes charging at us, my heart starts beating in my ears and my head.
Your dog does NOT have any puncture wounds, right?

Never let your dog fight it out- and never drop the leash (I can't believe how many people do this).
You did the right thing- get away. You can even kick the offending dog away from you if you need to- I don't mean paralyze it, but get it away from you. Your priority is to keep you and your dog SAFE!

I would have done the same thing, especially since you'd never seen the second dog and had no idea what the other dog's temperament was like.
Thanks Punky...I could not imagine letting him fight it out. I was so scared and just wanted to get him away. If I could have lifted him in my arms I would have done so and just started running.
Ugh, scary. I was put in the position of breaking up a dog fight alone a few weeks ago. Neither dog was mine, just wrong place wrong time at a fourth of July event. Fortunately a friend of my sister's came along and helped me because it was definitely a two person job. I'm so glad you and your dog are ok! Hopefully the neighbors will be more careful in the future.
