bridal shower favor help

my MOH's bridal shower (which i am MOH for) is rapidly approaching-august 21. i think i have narrowed down the favors to these 2 options. i need some input/thoughts/opinions/suggestions/randomness from the peanut gallery...that's where you guys come in! :)

oh, and don't mind the baby reference in the link, there are wedding designs.

option #1:
http://www.favorfavorbaby.com/p-6701ST.htm

option #2:
http://www.favorfavorbaby.com/p-6717ST_Baby.htm

i tried to insert the pictures, but the second picture isn't working so i scrapped it. the price is pretty much the same, a difference of $5ish, maybe. the first option looks like there can be more done to it (i.e., ribbon) to make them even cuter..but that is more money to buy those kinds of things. the second option is a bigger jar, so more candy will fit in it, but there isn't a whole lot to do to jazz it up. but i'm not sure if that is really necessary either.

also, i need to purchase candy to put in it. her colors are lavendar & latte (her lavendar has more of a gray tone than a purple, but for the purpose of the shower that is just too complicated to work with..so i'm doing the best i can). do we think this is ok? i realize it's cheap candy, but how bad can it be? FWIW, i used this site for our candy at the wedding and it seemed to be ok. thoughts? also, do we think 5lbs is enough? i think so, but i'd like to hear others confirm/deny.

thanks for your help girls!

Re: bridal shower favor help

  • I think people would be able to reuse the second jar more than they might be able to reuse the first one.  You could fill it only 3/4 or something to save money on the candy.  And you could still tie a bow around the neck of the bottle if you wanted to dress it up, but I don't think you have to.

I personally wouldn't enjoy those heart candies because it says they're grape flavored and I hate fake grape flavor so much.  I have no idea how much you would need.  You can get giant bags of pillow mints at Michaels for not much money, especially if you use their coupons. I really like those mints.

  • ick, i didnt notice they were grape flavored. thanks for catching that!
  •  I really like the second jar a lot better.

as for the candy, my only suggestion is maybe something mint or chocolate. I don't know about how much though! sorry!

  • ok, how do we feel about sixlets? maybe a mixture of the light purple & pearl? or just light purple? or just pearl? haha.

Third vote for the second jar!

Can you do a sticker on the lid, like in the picture?  Maybe have cheap-o ones printed at Vistaprint or something that say "MOH's Bridal Shower" and have them be the latte color?

As for candy, would solid color M&M's be expensive?  I definitely agree with a chocolate or mint candy.  How many people are coming?

Sixlets sound delicious, and I think light purple sixlets + the latte lid (if you go with that) would be perfect.  The pearl would be fine, too!

Those look good to me..what about doing some jars with pearl and some with purple? either that, or mix the two, but it might be hard to make them look all nice and mixed in the jar, unless you mix them all together first, and then put them in the little bottles.

  • I've never eaten a Sixlet, but the description says candy coated chocolate and that sounds good to me!  Are they like the bastard child of M&Ms or something?

  • thanks for the input!!

m&m's are costly, sadly. but i think the sixlets might work well. yes, they are tiny, but they're reasonably priced.

    LOL!

i dont know how to describe a sixlet. it's like a tiny m&m, but the shell isnt as hard. or at least it doesnt seem so bc its smaller. hm. maybe i'm bad at describing a sixlet?

I'll have to look for these in the store now, I'm curious to try them.

  • o man, so many sixlet virgins!!
  • raeynraeyn member

I've never had sixlets either, but from the description I think they'd be perfect. I wouldn't mix the colors in one jar, but you could do some jars with purple and some with pearl.

I, too, vote for the second jar because I'd be more likely to keep and reuse it.

  • sixlets are not that amazing, just so that you guys don't go rushing to the candy aisle to search them out. they're fine. i mean, i like them, but i've always liked them. they are sold in a tube like packet, so you get like 10 and can eat them all at once. lol..i just don't want you guys to be disappointed and blame me! Wink

so many votes for the second, whew! all my FIF's like the second, and my IRL friends voted for the first. i'll step away for a few days and decide when it's time to order!

    thanks everyone!!

  • Sixlets are yummy! They used to come in a little plastic wrap tube, right? Just make sure they aren't kept in the sun or your guests will have jars of mushy chocolate...although that wouldn't keep me from grabbing a spoon and digging in. Yep, no shame.
  • lol ima keep them out of the sun. i *think* we'll be inside, but i can't recall if there was a patio option or not.

i like sixlets! i think it's prob because it wasn't a common candy to find and mom wouldn't always let me have them. mmmmm. now i want candy. at 830am. i'm allowed!
