My parents are in town to see the new house and visit me now that we are all settled in.. I was in Austin last week, and K busted his a$$ to finish setting up the house while I was gone. He did a GREAT job.
Soooo.. K will be asking my father for permission tomorrow evening. Well, that's the plan anyways.
We are both slightly nervous - and not because I think my dad would say "no" - there is no chance of that. Its more that I wonder how sentimental he and mom will get. My immediate family is not that affectionate, but remembering the occasions that bring it up, this is going to be one of them.
Did your DH ask permission, and how did that it go?
Calm my nerves, people!
ETA: Please don't say anything on FB!
Had to disclaim - I appreciate it.
Re: Asking Permission (clicky poll)
Hehe.. only if I can say, "Squeeeee!"
Oh - and will ETA - pretty please, don't say anything on FB!
I responded yes . . . since my dad doesnt live in town, DH actually called my dad instead.
My dad said, "why are you asking me, I'm not the one who has to marry you!". LOL, my dad loves DH and he was trying to be funny since DH was so nervous. . .
How exciting for you! I think it's safe to say that there are a board full of ladies expecting a detailed report when all this goes down.
As to the poll question. Nope. My husband talked about asking for it. He felt it was something he was "supposed" to do. I felt felt very strongly that at the age of 32, I didn't need my father's permission. DH was still indecisive until his father presented him with this question: "Are you going to marry her even if he says no?" (Which he wouldn't because my dad loves DH.) "So what's the point of asking?"YAY!!!!!!!!
I voted no - I know J would have, if he had the chance, but he never got to meet my dad.
Don't worry - I'm sure it will go awesomely!! I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for the announcement
YAYYY!!!!!
I voted "other" only bc at that point I hadn't seen my dad in over 5 years and my mother was already deceased. I know it's "no", but I don't know that it counts the same.
Yay! Hope the visit and ensuing events are awesome!
DH did ask my dad, but for some reason they didn't tell my mom. I think they were afraid she'd spoil the surprise. The proposal, though a long time coming, was a complete surprise. When I told my mom DH proposed, she got all quiet and upset because she couldn't believe he hadn't talked to them. My dad was quietly laughing at her.

I voted 'other' instead of 'yes, it was so sweet and awesome', because I wasn't there for it... My parents live in Indiana, so DH called them up and asked them without me knowing it. He told me after he proposed that he called my dad and asked, my dad said yes, and then proceeded to ask about the weather.
he had my mom involved for a while - she actually helped with the ring (technically she 'bought' my ring so DH wouldn't have to pay sales tax, which meant it was shipped to her and then she had to ship it to Texas).
DH asked my dad over the phone, then my dad's phone lost service and he didn't realize it. My dad was going on and on about how excited he was and all DH heard was silence. It's a funny story and my dad told it at our wedding.
GL!
Word. Also: squeeee!
XH talked to both of my parents before he proposed to me, and I didn't find out that he had done so until after I said yes. I appreciated that he thought to do that, but didn't feel like it was required.

Married and it feels so good!
Yay!! That's so exciting!
DH asked my dad but I really don't know what all was said. I know it meant a lot to my dad and that he told DH that he better take care of me but that's all I know. Good luck to him!
OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG!!!
Yay!!!
